Not really a Rant...more a Sad

My Baby Boy <middle child> is Graduating from High School on Friday...my other one Baby Boy has to take another semester of college to get those last 2 classes for his major and will be graduating from college in December.

I will have 2 kids in College in August.

I'm very sad my second baby is leaving my house.

Im also sad that my daughter will be very lonley next year as her BFF is moving to Tampa AND her brother is going off to college. I'm rather lucky, my kids are all very close to each other and seem to enjoy each other company.

I was kinda glad the BFF was moving to Tampa rather that some other place as my older sister lives in Tampa and she could easily visit BUT NOW my Sister will be moving soon too...TO MICHIGAN...her husband just got the job of Department Head at the Uni of Michigan...damn it!!!

I am the youngest child in my family and I clearly remember my Mom balling her eyes out when we got about 3 exits away from my College when they dropped me off for Preseason Football Practices. I guess I never realized then I was pretty much leaving for good.

Now that I have 2 littles ones of my own I think I can begin to relate to those emotions, but definately not like what she felt and you are now feeling after 18 years of raising them. Cherish the time with your daughter and know that you have done a good job preparing them for the "real" world.

I am fairly certain my mother specifically avoided this by having children in waves. Three, and then later (11-14 years) two more.

Fortunately I was in the earlier wave, or as I like to call it "The Star Wars" batch, 1977, 1980 and 1983.

Which one were you? Were you Empire? Return of the Jedi? WERE YOU THE ONE WITH EWOKS!?

Alas, I was indeed Return of the Jedi. I was born to herald in the era of sand-vagina and poor anti-guerilla defense strategy. Most importantly, and somewhat dear to me, the year I was born introduced the Leia bikini.

A few years ago I made reference to The Last Starfighter to a co-worker and got "What's that?" in response. I died a little inside.

I still don't trust anyone born after The Goonies.Wasn't Goonies in the 80s? Wouldn't that be most of this board?

Not that you're wrong to distrust anyone on this board...

I was born in '81, so I can safely say that you can trust me.

Pay no attention to the ragebringer in your kidney. That was there when I got here.
