View Full Version : Why are there no more blessed fishing poles?

Nobody seems to sell these anymore, at least on Prexus. I have a character who wants a solstice earring, but hasn't been able to get the pole for weeks now. Did something happen to one of the items that is used for it? Anyone have any idea why these are so hard to come by now?

I think one of the components can only be foraged in PoG, you might have to pay a ranger or druid to forage that for you then get someone to make the fishing rod for you.

The branches you have to forage are pretty rare. I used to get them from the Plane of Growth, and they didn't come too often. I'd spend an hour there sometimes before I got one.
Top it off with having to forage dragon eggs from ToV as part of the ingredients, and it gets even more difficult.
EQTraders has been down lately too, maybe your usual pole workers didn't write the recipe down

They are hardly rare but few people go there anymore and fewer still bother now that the earring is frankly less interesting. I still fish there with my ancient Druid when I am bored, although unfortunately I cannot find my beloved Fetid Bass in the area. When I do I'll regularily forage up a few of them, which I tend to promply destroy.
Ask around and I am sure you can find the componants without too much trouble.

I used to make a ton of money manufacturing those. They are truly a pain in the butt to make though, and the earring is old and people don't want to pay a lot of money for the pole, so it's not really worth it any more, IMHO.

I still see people selling "entire Solstice earring" packages for 5k.
I've helped make several dozen of these things for guildmates, it's not worth my time and the hundreds of combines needed for only 5k. But I guess some people have better luck on getting the ingredients and mass producing the items.

currently I cannot forage anything in POG except pod of water, has been this way for over a week... I don't know why they would change this or if it is just a mistake but I used to make 100p ea just foraging the sticks...
I made a ton of money on those things, but dropped out of the market when competiton drove the price under 1k. They're a pita to make, and pottery and poison have better margins.

The FT1 earring was a lot more valuable before you could just go purchase droppable FT15 in the bazaar.
Pre-POP/LoY/LDoN, the solstice earring was about the only FT item you could get that was...essentially...droppable, inexpensive, and common. FT3 boots were another option, but a lot more expensive and were mostly guild raid loot.
In addition, the Solstice earring was pretty much one of the better ones for any class you could easily get (the sta and hp were great for melee classes that couldn't benefit from the FT). Since POP, there are a lot more "uber" earrings available (for example, earring of thunder, bloodmetal earring of engagement, etc), that folks are opting for.
