View Full Version : Do some weapons proc poison less often?

Our shade group has noticed a couple of incidents where it seems some blades proc poisions less often than others.

The first incident was on a blade handed down by a guildie and was already poisoned. He says the blade wouldn't proc at all until a higher-level guildie used the weapon until it proc'd and then gave it back. It seemed to work normally after that.

Second is an Oaken Impaler (yellow con) that just seems to proc much less often than either of two Rib Ticklers (also yellow). This is noticed whether in main hand or left hand and with any type of usable poison. Review of the battle log shows that it hits as often as the RTs but definitely doesn't proc poison as often.

Anyone have any ideas or comments? Thanks. Faeral Spirit

Well.. Weapons don't really proc poison, per se. If a poison has been applied to a weapon, it will go into effect on the next melee hit of the weapon, where it either lands or is resisted. In other words, it will proc, if we are to use that word, on any hit by the weapon.
If that is not what you mean, i am confused.. I have never observed a poison to not proc when the weapon hits, so long as you remember to apply it.

If you are indeed talking about poisons not proccing.. My best guess is that someone tried to apply the poison before the 10 second interval between combat and being able to apply expired, and simply didn't notice that it didn't apply properly.

Don't know if it's a possibility for you, but last night I envenomed my 2h sword, went into RVR and no proc. I won the first round anyway, scrambled back to tree cover, and tried to re-apply the poison, thinking I'd missed it.

Got "the sword already has a poison applied" message.

Hm...went back out and hit another target. No proc again.

I'm starting to get really annoyed. Barely won the fight and back to the shadows where I look everything over carefully and verify, yes I do have poison on this blade. At this point I actually remembered this thread and wondered if I was having a problem like you were describing.

About this time I get PA'd by a Nightshade - I respond really badly, having been deep in analysing mode and not ready to fight - but the two shots I get off didn't proc either.

I release back to Huginfell in a fury. WTF??? And about that time I notice that the light blue box is around my 1h weapon, not my 2h'er. I'd been using the wrong weapon all that time (they look similar and my camera was way out so I didn't see the difference in stance).

Doh! I hate it when you are so stupid you overlook the obvious. Drolk - L43 Kobold Shadowblade (Tristan)

What you describe is the same scenario I had...the weapon says it "has an active effect". I made it my primary weapon and even hit with it...no poison. I tried to reapply, same message. I moved it to left hand, no poison...same...2HD slot...same outcome.

It did go off every now and then but not as reliably as my Rib Ticklers. It was so problematic, I retired it. Just wondering why this might be or if others might have seen the same.

Thanks for the reply. Faeral Spirit

If you got the weapon from another Assassin, and they put a poison on it that your skill isn't high enough to use, it will remained venomed (preventing putting a different venom on it) and never go off until your Envenom skill is high enough for it to proc.

You could hand it to a high-level assassin to "clean" it.

Happening to me aswell, I have Screenshots to back it up.. Applied poison to the main weapon only, I hit 6 times with my main hand before the poison proc'ed.. think something is screwy.

I can validate that this is in fact an issue, I have a 2 Hander that I've applied poison to, had it work great for 3 or 4 kills, then go for 3 or 4 strikes without a proc. Same wep, same poison etc. And I am the one applying the poison so I am sure I can use it..

That happened to me. A higher lvl guildie gave me a weapon that he had poisoned I couldnt get poison to proc off nor could I apply my own poisons. However, I did read on the Herald that they have (or will) make it so that the poison is wiped away when a lower poison spec'd person wields it.
