Yeah, that's pretty much how I've always pronounced them, but I was hoping to get a few second opinions on what was correct. (I thought Luclin was Loo-slin until they officially said it was Luck-lin.) I was thinking of using those names spoken in a project and didn't want to misprounounce.
Thanks for the assistance.

After playing for a couple years with nobody to pronounce the eq words to I was pretty suprised at how much I was not paying attention to the way they were spelled. Heck I only had to type them before, and even then it was usually abreviated.
So when my brother started to play and we would talk about the in-game names we would both look at each other like the other one was an idiot. "Wth are you talking about?" That sort of thing. I'm betting I'm not the only one.
If you haven't got anything nice to say about anybody, come sit next to me.

EZ_roblex

It was indeed originally pronounced Loose-lin despite how EQ employees now pronounce it.
Way before the SoL expansion was written the in-game moon was unofficialy named after the two front desk receptionists Lucy and Lynne. When the idea came up to base a zone on that moon the devel team were given a written report telling them what was required. The project leader being new and from East Europe did not realise the basis of the name and communicated the plan to the team as 'Luck-Lin' and being the boss nobody dared contradict him. Before long too many people were pronouncing it that way to be easily changed back so those that knew its real pronounciation just let it slide, Lucy had left by then anyway.
So what is the right way? The original way or the newer corrupted way? Most of us say 'Goodbye' but does that make the original 'God be with you' wrong?

hehe...I have to add my 2cp...
For Luclin to be pronounced "loose-lin" there would have to be an "e" after "Luc", therefore it would be Lucelin...the same as Lucerne (France). But alas, it is Luclin, so pronouced "Lucklin". Now you could also argue that "Luc" in Luclin, is a proper name and should be pronounced "Luke", but that would just sound way to silly...so I will stay with the way I have always pronounced it..."Lucklin".

it all depends.. I really don't think many of the devs were too worried about the pronunciation of the names in the game because the primary medium of communication is text-based.
However, phonetically speaking from a linguistics perspective, some of the devs are just downright weird. In San Francisco I heard one of the SOE staff call the "tuna-ree" server. I mean come on.. really.
I tend to pronounce it Luke-lin, despite what the devs say. It sounds cooler I think the basic tenet tho is : call it whatever the hell you want as long as you pay your 12 bucks a month

How I pronounced them:
Luclin = luke-lin
Velious = Vel-yus
Kunark = Koo-nark
Bertoxxulous = Bar-tox-a-luss
Bristlebane = Brissle-bane
Mithaniel Marr = Mith-ann-yeeall Marr
Povar = Poe-var
Xegony = Zag-o-nee
Quellious = Kwell-yus
Firiona Vie = Fer-oy-na Vay
There are a few that pronounced completely different than how they're spelled, simpley cause I didn't read them right the first time and got too set in my way of pronouncing them to correct it. Like the first time I saw Firiona Vie. I glanced at it quickly and didn't notice the first "i" in the word. I pronounced it as "Froy-na Vie" for a long time, before I saw the name in print and really took a look at it instead of just skimming over it.
Then there's Ayonae Ro. I'd guess it should be pronounced "Ay-yo-naay Ro", but I read it wrong the first time I glanced at it as well and said "Ah-noy-ah Ro". But then after time of slowly dispising the general population (too many people/guilds forcing you into contested spawn races), I purposely kept pronouncing it wrongly, since the wrong way I pronounced it also shows how I felt about the server "Annoying Ro", "Annoy You Ro", *"Annoy Ya Ro"*

These pronunciations represent the ONLY correct way of speaking the following words out loud. In RL, I know nearly zero fantasy fans, and even less EQ players, so I have been fortunate to develop my own unique pronunciations of fantasy words, without the taint of (often) collective stupidity from my fellow fans.
Terris Thule - Tair-iss Thool
Quarm - as is
Brell - as is
Saryrn - Sair-rinn
Rallos Zek - rall-us (the "a" sound from alley, not olley)
Tallon Zek - Talon
Vallon Zek - Valon (rhymes with talon)
Cazic Thule - Kazz-ick (not Cozz-ick)
Bertoxxulous - Burr-tocks-you-luss
Rodcet Nife - rod-set knife
Erollisi Marr - ee-roll-issee marr
Mithaniel Marr mith-an-ee-ell
Fennin Ro - fen-in
Solusek Ro - sol-you-seck
Xegony - zegg-oh-nee
Rathe - wrath-ee (not roth-ee like the Underdark cattle, or anything else which would sound even more stupid)
Bristlebane - brissle-bane
Kunark - coo-nark
Velious - vee-lee-us
Veeshan - vee-shann (not vee-shonn)
last but not least:
Luclin : loose-lynn - the ONLY acceptable alternate would be Luke-Lynn, luck-lynn is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. If you pronounce it in this manner, may you be subject to immediate torture and prolonged death
oh and just to throw in, for you Salvatore and Forgotten Realms fans:
Drow - Drough, rhyming with dough, not cow. Just because it is spelled like cow doesn't mean its the same word with a different beginning. Billy Madison would pronounce it like cow, come on people.
In the face of boggling amounts of stuipidity regarding pronunciations, my list is a bastion of clarity. Speak how you like, but if its stupid and I hear it: I may slap you.
