GM events Galore !

Well in LavaStorm tonight , had GM event , will describe later , Guy i ported got frostreavers embroidered cloak , another guy got a CoF , some guy got a Treasure hunters satchel and last some guy got a Scimitar of the Emerald dawn. They supposed to be running Event all week end , also after that GM event the usaul Werewolf Invasion of WC happened , zone crashed trying to get back in will post more later

Okay, being a bit of a newb to GM events, I am curious as to what people do to get this VERY nice gear. What did these guys do to get a CoF, or SoED, or anything else for that matter? I was in WC killing off every undead thing, just for the fun of it, and then I killed off about 30 werewolves. Then went to EC, where this bigazz imp named Impzy was flying around spawning undead out the arse all around him. Other than being kinda fun, I didn't notice anything that prompted a quest, no unusual drops, etc. Could someone who knows a little more about GM events tell me more about them?

The rewards from GM events are out of hand sometimes. It's ok when this is an occasional occurrence, like the defender of Qeynos, or possibly the Karana plague, but now it looks like the Hackmaster 2000 Vorpral Blade +15 is being handed out to keep people playing the game instead of leaving for DAoC. This strikes me as desparate, and it's what happens when the GMs know less lore of the game than the average newbie.

Ther are two kinds of events, Historical and GM.

Historical Events, are put on by a troupe of people that are NOT GM's and move from server to server doing historical quests and events. Such as when Anibel Spavin (sp?) brought the plauge to the Karanas in the name of Bertox. Or, Friona Vie coming to Felwithe after being freed from Kunark. These events are usually well scripted, have specific rewards granted out to those who roleplay and interact with the characters.

GM Events, are put on but a bunch of guides, apprentices and full GM's just to break the monotony. Rewards are random. The event has no historical bearing. Basically, name giants in EC, tons of werewolves in WC, named Sand Giants in Oasis type of events.

Last night on Morell Thule, I stayed online past midnight EST to "play" along.

All I saw was;

LOIO sky was red.

WC sky was blood red and moving from South to North (wierd) I heard there had been an event but I missed it.

Around 8:30pm est I heard GM's were passing through Kith on way to HP, so I logged on my druid and met the flock un EK ramp. 5 GM's were WALKING down ramp toward NK. We walked from EK -> NK -> WK -> QH -> to Surefall zone where Millers sit then they depopped. About 10'ish now. OOC is that they are at BB, so I run to BB, see one GM depop. I zone into BB and follow them again. We walked to EF -> Newbie area outside of Halos -> outside of Perma.

By now it's about 10:30pm est. GM's said to prepare for battle.

10:45pm nothing.

11:00pm VOX does a zone emote about callign here minions to her aid. A few shouts go out in the zone that named Ice Giants are in zone and INC to Perma. I see an IG named Icewind that has the green head of a Cyclops and the body of a IG. He is blue and Indiff to me at 40. About 10 secs after he shows up, as usual, lewt whore folks kill him. Then I see another version of this IG but in human size.. Never saw him fall because the croud around him.

11:15pm nothing.

11:30pm nothing.

11:45pm nothing.

MIDNIGHT nothing.

12:15am I port my butt back to WC, sky is still red, I camp.

So basically, I did no exping for almost 4 hours to follk a bunch of GM's WALKING from Kith -> Perma, watch 2 named IG's get ganked, and went to bed. /sigh

The GM event in LS as i said before (sry for no update) was a bit quest oriented , had to kill a guy with a curse on him, during it the Sky went PoF on us , was blood red . After it though it was Blue but at night , aint been back since , the Sky had PoA stuff in it , a Saturn looking planet & a Crecent (Sp ?) moon and the normal moon in it...... (go check it out its cool lookin) I was not able to see any other event other than the ones i already talked about .

Sunday evening/morning on Lanys, a Scarecrow by the name of "Sweet Tooth" appeared at the gypsy vendors in Oasis. When approached, you were asked "Trick or Treat, <YOU>?" If you said "treat", you were given gnome-shaped cookies (as far as I know, no other items were given; just cookies). When you asked for a "trick", you were blasted a scaled distance of about 200 feet for no dmg, and shrunken for fun, even casters' pets. Some also reported that their pets were saying odd things when attacking, though their pet commands weren't set up to do so (i.e. Time to die, a deepwater croc!). Sweet Tooth stayed for about 45 minutes before disappearing...probably went LD
It was truly picturesque; innumerable desert brownies and their pets, all scurrying across the dunes
This has been only the second "event", GM or otherwise, on Lanys I've had the opportunity to actually witness. The first was a couple of Octobers ago, when Q Hills had the undead invasion. It's a shame we can't enjoy more...

Last night on Karana, Rathe Mountains was transformed into Nightfall Haunting. Monsters was abound and they had the names: A Bloodbone Drake(replaced HG's) They had HT, Dark spells and some other SK spells , Horror(Nightmare), Spiteful Raver(Necromancer spectres with cute little pets), a named horse called the wretched mare and countless others...it was very exciting(creepy ) to sneak around, exploring an "old" zone, gone crazy.

Later in the Evening, a huge Bonedragon appeared and killed off several adventurers with its sweet 500 AoE, myself included....went ld at first wave

When I got back a good friend of mine asked me if i wanted a res, seeing as she passed by my corpse to go to PoF

When I got back to Rathe, the dragon was dead, there was 222 people in the zone. Apparantly it dropped Cobalt Bp, CoF and some bard no drop weapon that decayed.

People were fighting over loot and some even went as far as to ninja some of the items. I logged for the night feeling a bit sick about having experienced that kind if behaviour...but a good book at my fireplace fixed that very fast

Upon reflection it was fun to see, but I believe it would be best to get honorary rewards instead of high lvl drops for people to whine and argue over...

Remember when you leave this game you cannot take any items with you, except what is most important...your friends

I made a halloween topic but anywho , the BIG Draco in RM droped some warrior sword , cant remeber stats each time he was killed , The events in EK and NRo could be stopped but the RM one could not . @#%$ ive never seen so many people in one zone at peak RM had 240 in it and we didnt crash it hehe . Was a LOT of KSing / ninja-ing going on too.

I didn't even bother with the Rathe Feeding Frenzy event. Killed a few WWs in WC though! Exciting stuff! Only killed a few and only thing dropped was a Rog only Dagger of Defense. That alone was nice and lucky.

Was an event in NRo that had a Priest of Virm pop in with a bunch of minions popping in all over the zone like Orville Reddenbacker's wet dream. Minions had some loot and fungus. Take four fungus to the Priest and he would give you class specific stuff. Simple, right? Well some numnuts decides to kill the Priest and end the event. This was done at both midnights I was in game for, and both times the same Iksar 43 Monk killed the Priest, saying ha ha that's life deal with it. We didn't even get to see the end of the event, the Priest would say something like it was time to feed Virm or some such thing. We all thought some big nasty would pop at the end or SOMETHING... but we never found out... So basically most of us came away with nothing from this event 'cause some shmuck from Germany (yes he was German) decided it would be funny to piss everyone off. Nothing we could do about it 'cause it was on a blue server. Whatever... the target rich environment was enough to level and the complete mayhem of searchin for undead servants of Virm while trying not to die before they all despawned was entertaining...

I played ALOT during the GM events....never even got near one by the time I found out about them and ran my butt there they were over.

yea I was at the GM event in E fp-OOT on prexus server, ghost ship was freaky looking with a skull on the front, email me at Rayman@yeayea.com if you want a screenshot. I got rewarded with a 25ac 14wis 10str 10agi effect: Ensnare shield (rng/dru only) which I sold for 23k, heh. I really wanted a funig, don't glare at me for selling a gift hehe. Also got a 1ac 4wis 20hp/mana earring and a pos but cool looking 2hb weapon
