As a barbarian rogue, which would be better to get the skills up? 1H slashing, or 1H blunt?

Might as well get them all up. No reason not to and you have plenty of time to do it in.

Either...both...you never know what you'll end up wielding in the long run. More likely than not, you'll be wielding a pair of piercers, but again, you never know.
I don't know what level you are, but it's better to get skills up as you level, rather than trying to get a skill up from (0) when you're level 60 and supposed to be doing DPS. It really doesn't take that long to get 5 skill points in something; do them all as you go along; you'll be glad in the end.
P.S.: Race doesn't matter with regards to weapon skills.

I didn't make him yet...just was thinking of making a rogue, 'cause kinda got bored for a while with the shaman (i just like the barbarian race-feel at home in the north). And since i am going to work on rogue, i might as well make it (and probably will keep it) as if i am going to keep it; on the roleplaying server.

I would say keeping up skills just for the sake of it is a waste of time. If you get a 1hb or 1hs weapon you want to use, just worry about getting skill up at that time. At later levels with better Dual wield, double attac, haste and stats, you will raise the skill a lot faster then the time you would spend keeping it up along the way. after level 50, these skills go up VERY slowly. I have no numbers to prove this, but my 'feeling' on it is that if there is a large disparity between where the skill SHOULD be and where it is, the advancement rate is incredibly slow.
For instance, from 215-252 for 1hb, took a week of LDoNs (2-3 adventures per night) to raise it those 37 points. 1hs was similar. Archery is still a PITA, despite having the bloody ancilles pouch and a 26dly bow, and plinking dark blue's only. That took forever to go from 196 to 225. (I think it's at 225)
as in forever, I mean probably 800-1000 arrows per skill up.

I have heard that you can raise attack skills on Translocators until level 10. I've not tested this, and I'm not sure if it's until you hit 10, or through the end of 10. Personally, I think I'd find myself a weapon of each type and a Translocator just before the end of level 9. It might be a bit boring, but it's easy and you don't have to worry about the damage you should be doing instead. Then you'll have all your skills up to 50 at least, so you're not utterly useless at later levels when you're trying to get your skills up for a real need. Then go kill something to get 10 and come back to the Translocator, so you can let us know if it's until 10 or through 10. =)
It probably is a waste of time to train skills you don't really need, but I'm the type who tries to max everything possible, so that I'm prepared when I do need to use it. Nothing like getting a cool new weapon and not being able to hit anything with it...

1HB at lvl 64 = 0
Killed King Dronan and looted his copper hammer (everquest.allakhazam.com/...em=22010).
8 hours max in Droga and POV 1HB = 250
Do this with friends as it is somewhat rude to be cranking out misses and crushes for 1dmg
would be an interesting parse between offhanded Gom (everquest.allakhazam.com/...=21017)and this hammer

OK, this maybe a noobish question, but how equipment based is the Rogue class? This is assuming i have a decent blade. If i plan on dueling (firona vie server), and am worried about equipment, should i just switch to shaman?
thanks

Our offhand damage is a small percentage of out total DPS and swapping in odd weapons in raid crawls or exp groups where stuff is under control and dieing fast is not something folks notice. In an exp group and stealing aggro? Toss is a gimp 1hb and train.
Keep a FAST 1hb or 1hs that is tagged magic, dont worry about the damage, and whip it out in offhand from time to time.
An old Jade Mace (9/18 1hb) from Karnors works well and won't put you into debt.

I dont know about it being hard to raise skills after level 50. I am only level 14 and have been trying to raise my 1HS since level 12 and it is still only at 18!
I just found myself a Gnoll Whip with a delay of 20 and I am using it as much as possible but it is still slow. That might be partly due to the fact that I am using it in my offhand mostly to try and get my dual wield up

While your dual wield is low anything in the offhand will go up slow. When its maxxed its much better. I trained 1H blunt from nothing to max in 2 days using the jade mace at lvl 60.
