what is the best range weapon ?

I like to know what is better to use for a rogue bow and arrow or throwing items?

Im confused by an old posting that somebody had here a while ago about whats better to use bow/arrow vs throwing items.. my buddy is a 65 rogue and he told me to dump the bow/arrow and use throwing items .. but I like the bow/arrow..

please help me decide what is best for a rogue.

Bows have better stats and range. You can crit/deadlystrike with throwing, but it's more humorous than effective.

Bows are nice for pulling, and with the bloody ancille pouch you don't have to worry about buying or making arrows, which is nice. As far as importance, I can only think of 2 mobs I use my bow against as a normal part of the fight. YMMV

It is true, they are not much more than novelty, so I would say go for a bow in range since they have better stats. The Stonewood Compound Bow has Aura of Battle on it which is very nice, and I don't have to go swapping stuff around to use a range pull.

On the other hand, with the Dusty Soriz Worker's pouch, I can fling shissar fangs pretty quickly. The other day on the way down to Agnar, fighting the guy on the second level ( I forget his name where we were instructed to range attack only, I did some decent damage, much better than I was doing with my bow. Crits and Deadly Strikes are pretty, but fluff.

If I could only poison my range slot . . .

Bow. Even with a pouch from Ssra I would use a bow for increased range and damage and stats/saves/hp etc, assuming you will put in the time to up your archery skill.

I really only use ranged on 3 fights we currently do - Emmerick (the previously mentioned guy on the way to Agnarr), Tallon Zek, and Solusek Ro.

Either way, our DPS is pretty sub-par with either compared to our melee, or compared to a ranger's bow damage, so use whatever you like. Just keep in mind whatever it is should keep you out of AE range or there is really no point. Ddarr

There is a nice Vengeance 2 range item from LDoN Hard missions which I have. I just switch it out for a bow when I need it, then re-equip the idol for melee. It is sweet (sorry, I forget the name atm).

I'd go with a bow for the stats, and they're also easier to find with stats compared to throwing items, plus, bows are permanent, and with throwing, you use up the stat item. Gosta Getcha
