Screwing around on a rogue twink for when i cant get a ldon group fairly quickly with my main, and since i've only spent a few hours in the bazaar looking for rogue gear, I was wondering if I missed any obvious, cheap upgrades to what I have atm. And yes, I know I could use 6ac/65hp rings, but I like the ones I have for now /shrug

Off the top of my head here a few really cheap suggestions (under 500pp):
Metal linked crown
Grotesque alloy mask
Crystalline spider fang (if they fixed the level restriction bug, keep what you have if you get the dmg stats anyway).
Other than that, define cheap Edited by: Sajuiil at: 12/31/03 3:17 pm

I liked the crown, but with it's rec. level, it won't do me much good. And my LDoM definitely still works like a full 13 dmg poker, except for backstabs. Because of that, I have 2 hotkeys to switch my fungusbeast spine into primary for backstabbing, although I'm too lazy to bother that often anyways.
And as for cheap, I've got around 3k left over to spend if I want to, although I can't see spending hundreds of plat for marginal upgrades to what I already have.

www.magelo.com/eq_view_pr...num=819816 is my rogue's Magelo. I think I've done a decent job of equipping him for pretty cheap and with leftover stuff from my main. Maybe that will give you some ideas of stuff to look for. -------------------------

Invisibill,
I am surprised to see you using Cougar Claw Earings. I use them at level 20 and I assumed higher level players would have something better. Is there a reason?
Necksnappa,
You are not using your ranged slot and a Razor Fungus Claw costs 3-5pp and gives +5 STR. It usually costs a lot more to get an extra 5 Str. Edited by: roblex at: 1/2/04 1:18 am

Both dirt cheap and better than cougar claw earrings for a rogue of any level. [65 Deceiver] Marauder Dubb O`Boyce <Triune>Edited by: Dubbo at: 1/2/04 1:20 am

Doh! I was forgetting what board I was on! It is my alt Mage that uses Cougar Claw earrings so it is definitely a waste putting them on a high level Rogue!

At low levels you might as well concentrate on STR + DEX instead of STA/HP (given that your STA is over 100).
I found that prior to about 50-55 a ton of hitpoints is unnecessary if you use evade at all. Even tier I planes (PoJ, PoN, PoI) do not require a very large HP pool for the rogues to be successful and not dead.
With high Str/Dex at lower levels, you will raise your skills faster. Also, I'm not entirely convinced that Dex doesn't effect the backstab success rate.
All of this does, however, change in post 50-55 game. At these levels your highest priority is Sta/HP. I think favorite safehouse motto goes something like: "A dead rogue can't backstab"

I'm using Cougar Claw Earrings because that's what I had left over sitting in the bank. =)
4 AC, 3 STR, and 2 DEX is decent for a rogue. The extra 15hp on the Orc Fang Earring may make up for the 1 AC lost, but the CCE still has the 2 DEX. The Black Sapphire Electrum Earring has 2 AC and 35hp. 25 mana too, but there's no point even mentioning that for a rogue... So it comes down to 35hp vs. 2 AC, 3 STR, and 2 DEX. At really low levels, the pure hp probably help a lot more. In the upper low levels, they may not help as much. *shrug* Like I said, my biggest reason for using them though is that they have AC and STR and were sitting in the bank collecting dust. -------------------------
