So my Warrior alt made her way to POI for the first time yesterday at level 53.
It seemed to me I was getting the crap beat out of me.
My AC unbuffed is like 1020. I cant remember my HPs now but its nothing to brag about.
I was getting hit for between 50 and 230. Is this normal for PoP tanking?
Is my AC light? What would you expect a 53 War to have as an unbuffed AC?

Well, that sounds alright, PoP mobs hit very hard compared to mobs in previous expansions, even PoI mobs.
Part of the reason you're getting worked so bad is because you're in a PoP zone at level 53.
If the mobs are white or yellow or red con, expect to get hurt pretty bad (good rule of thumb).
I'm suspecting that they are close to your level. Is exp in Sebilis or Chardok that horrible now? I don't understand all the low 50s coming to planar zones at all.

THe xp even in tier 1 pop zones is good. Seb and Chardok maybe comparable but have you tried to get to these dungeons recently? They require some running across whole zones....shocker. THe chances of pickup groups in these zoneis non-existent, trying to convince a shammy chanter or cleric to run to one of these zones is impossible.
As for being lvl 53 in PoI then I think you may be a tad low. It is fairly importanat to get a slower in these zones as teh mobs do hit hard. You might want to hang back in PoJ and xp a bit more there.
It gets better as you level, and having higher AC makes a huge difference if you pass the AC 'points'. A 60th lvl (at the time) friend was tanking in a group with me in a 1st tier zone, he had just under 1100 AC at the time. I was breaking 1250 and was 57th lvl. When we got an add I needed much less healing. Was rather surprised as I thought he'd tank better due to level but the difference was very very noticable. Leveling will make tanking easier, but don't neglect armor either. Hps are nice but sacrificing some hps to pass one of the changing points in AC can be woth it IMO.

In the early 50's you could actually get and survive groups in Plane of Justice near the zoneout area. Although your mobs sure aren't anything special (rats, prisoners, etc.) they're still pretty low level you can survive a pretty long time there--provided you have adequate healing.
Heck, few of my friends went to PoJ from 48-52 and at that point the exp there was INSANE! Most of us past 55 won't even hardly go to PoJ unless it's to do a trial or hunt in the basement or further in. With other zones like PoN and PoI that have more easily accessible mobs, more mobs generally, and a seemingly large experience difference, there's not really much of a call to 'slum it'.
But by all means, gather a few of your buddies (healer and slower if you can get em) and knock yourself out. Couple of days up there in PoJ slamming against even the rats and you won't be 53 for too much longer...
As for ac? Hard to say. I'm a rogue. We get our asses kicked meleeing ANY place we go to really (and I ain't talking about you lvl 65's with 300 aa's and unbuffed 1500ac....you tank whatever the hell you want ) so just work it up a bit. That ac isn't bad that you stated. It will get better.

hehe, I remember when I could fear kite in PoJ at 54, and I didn't even have to worry about the rat adds. Mmm now that was fun.. until that evil guide..grr hehe
yeah, you should try to get PoJ groups at 53 .. that would be a good idea .. maybe until like 55 or something.

I have a 54 warrior was 53 last week and leveled in POI. I have 1200 plus ac buffed and 5048 hps. Very good equipment indeed. Better than some 60 warriors I know. I have found the mobs to hit pretty hard but I can tank them just okay.... I had a cleric healing me 4-5 CHs per mob. Then I had a 65 warrior come in and tank i was just pure dps. I would tell you to tank there only if you have virtue and have a higher person main tanking or someone to share the hps.
