View Full Version : Not just another religion post

Everyone has seen them. We all know the arguments. Yes, you guessed it, I am talking about the posts where someone says, which religion should I choose for class X?

Well, this got me to thinking. Faction has become a bit of a non issue with regards to religion in the later expansions. Also, religion doesn't really offer that much when it comes to cultural armours. They are expensive, difficult to make and by the time you can afford them, there are much better options available. So, what does religion have left to offer us? Not a lot. Hardly anyone bothers to role play their religions anymore and really, that is a subjective matter, so we can forget that for now. There are a few deity restricted items in the game, but lets face it, there are better things out there. Finally, we have a series of Imbue spells and as far as I know, one other deity restricted spell (Wake of Karana) for druids.

So, what is this mad player of a gnome trying to get at? Simply put, I want people to come up with ideas for ways to improve the situation. I'll start with one, which I think has been definitely underused so far. Deity restricted spells. It would be so simple, not to have just one spell per deity, but to implement a comlete line of spells per class, per deity. Imagine a necromancer or shadowknight of Bertoxulous (sp?), who could have their own range of disease based spells, etc. Inny followers could have a line of spells based around the theme of hate, etc.

Anyway, discuss and add suggestions as you see fit.

Seeing as how ornate has somewhat replaced a great deal of the cultural armor (for me at least) I would go with agnostic. Especially as a rogue. That's just that much easier to get through cities and quests without worrying about hide or sneak failing. And like I said, for me, ornate ahs replaced cultural armor.[/b]

Wake of Karana is certainly not a deity restricted spell, my wood elf Tunare druid has (no, her name isn't Hugglez) been known to turn off the rain with it.

All my characters have deities. I find being agnostic is just silly, and for what? To make things easier? No thanks.

I spent time factioning for things; my enc is Mithaniel Marr, my rogue Tunare, my cleric Innoruuk. I can roleplay them all and really enjoy having a deity.

While certainly no incentive to having one, there should be no need. It is a roleplaying game after all. And don't give me that BS remark about the player base changing EQ to a non RPG.
