gotta say, iksars own.
I've started an iksar shammy, and I'm having a blast. 200+ people in field of bone isn't unlikely, and it's just as unlikely that you won't be able to find a group. TONS of mobs, tons of people of mixed classes...and useful, powerful ones. we got tanks, we got snarers, we got nukers, healers, heavy melee damage dealers, and the most powerful dotters. along with the billion evil dark elves who will even out what we lack in the int-caster department.
everyone's taking advantagde of the GREAT newbie quests cabilis has to offer, from curscale armor to bone chips. people are using tradeskills, already selling banded armor, etc.
most people are nice...there's some ks'ing because everyone rushes every newbie spawn and claims it theirs, but ah well. at least we don't have to fight along with enemies like in gfay and other zones, it's all allies which feels nice. we can grow strong without being disturbed.
pretty cool to have the continent for ourselves, kunark is well protected from lighties. we can level in peace and just wait for the invasion....a powerful stronghold like cabilis is impossible to intrude on.
good people are in a tight situation, with only faydwer seemingly still in their posession. i was in gfay (started out with a good char then changed) and all people did was whine about how the good would die and had no chance at all. dunno about that, but as far as I could see it, all they would have would be gfay and some newbie dungeons like CB and Unrest.
Evil seem to have 'taken over' the karanas, commons, oasis, down to swamp and jungle of course. neutral....not sure where they stand, but they seems to have the western part of the world for now.
LOTS of people seem to be going evil. I heard reports of nektulos having 400+ newbies at once, and the 200+ in fob showed a similar sign.
anyway that was my 2cp...this server is really fun, give it a try if ya haven't already.

If you're lookin for a good guild, try to look the guys of <Hate> up, and tell them I sent ya. Lots of Old School, and honorable Vallon peeps started the guild.
Might be kinda tough to get in at first though, since you're a bl00b and all
Good guys though. Ceescrit Bossalini

"Where is the end to all my misery, is there a close? I suppose that's why I murder my foes..."
I feel for the bluebies playing Iksars.
Don't mean to be rude but think about it:
Scenario 1:
Hardcore veteran PvP'er decide to play on SZ, and wants to make an Iksar character, for whatever reason. He levels, gets to 25 or so, decides to leave his homeland. He finally gets to have some PvP action, and kicks some arse over on Antonica or Faydwer, joins in the evil vs neutral vs good battle.
Cool.
Scenario 2:
Bluebie veteran PvE'er decides to play on SZ, and wants to make an Iksar character, for whatever reason. He levels, gets to 25 or so, decides to leave his homeland. He finally gets to have some PvP action, and gets his arse handed to him on a silver platters, because not just has he had ZERO pvp action so far, and the veterans are raping him, but the other "bluebies" are now honing their skills and becoming fierce fighters themselves, lagging him behind even farther.
Sucks.
Now, that's just my opinion and how I see it. It may or may not work out like that, but /shrug

ya know, if there's one thing that annoys me, it's all the people from the pvp servers who think they're the kings of EQ. they think that people from blue servers don't know jack about how pvp works and how we'll all get owned....well you can probably imagine what I'd like to tell and do to you :P

Thats the truth for most people from blue servers prodigious.
There are exceptions, but if you don't have any experience on pvp, chances are there are alot of things you don't know about that pertain to it. It's just like every time you join something new... you're the new meat.. you're the butt of the jokes from the people who have done it before until you prove yourself.
Kambic probably should have added another scenerio.. where the blue server player does his/her research on the pvp aspect of the game after enjoying the dueling aspect of blue server life.. starts an iksar.. makes sure to duel every once in a while to keep his/her skills sharp.. and then goes to antonica. Upon arrival, he/she is a bit shaky, but quickly gets the hang of things.
When i first started cylant.. i was a complete pvp newbie. I had done my fair share of dueling on a previous low level blue server charachter, but it wasn't anything like rallos. You can't expect to be completely enlightened about everything pertaining to a new class.. new server.. and new ruleset just because you play a high level rogue . I'm from rallos, and i'm learning things about pvp on sullon zek every day. I know a fair ammount more than 90% of the admitted blue server players, it would be sort of sad if i didn't.
There are exceptions.. but for another example..don't expect to be treated like a g-o-d at your new computer oriented job because you are a veteran lifeguard. Apples and oranges.

I found it tiresome months ago. Now I shrug it off (it's like, if you were on a blue server you never learned anything about what your class is capable of- you have to be in a PvP environment to know)
All I can say is, I've done a great job on every PvP server I've been on- and I'm quite sure I've killed my fair share of hardcore PvP Elititists.

nimbull, cinder. remember that little fight you, a bard, and a necro/wizzy (cant remember which) had in the sewers with the two barbs? we were able to block the bard in the corner and take him down easily. then chased the other two of you out of the zone AFTER another bard death?
basically, its little tricks like that that make the PvP crowd better at PvP. like cylant said, not all blue server players are going to get owned, in fact, 1v1, in a deul type situation, i would most likely get owned by any blue server player that does deuling alot. most of my experiance is with groups and lopsided groups. or even me aginst alot of other people. (this is fun, just start AEing some little group sitting at the nek zone line from around the corner, they will take forever to find ya
also another little thing, is that one wizzy i fought didnt know that she could cast through walls, so she kept exposeing herself and loseing half her health before she could get back to the safty of the smugglers. then got dropped as the chanter and shammy with me zapped her through the wall =P
anyways, like cylant said, like i said above, IT WONT HAPPEN TO ALL BLUE SERVER PLAYERS =P
but, i would be willing it happens to alot more blue server darks than to lights or newts =)

hehe well when I think about it a bit, there will of course be a bonus to the experienced players.....but on the other hand, I don't believe that you need a lifetime of playing experience to master EQ pvp, so people will learn how it works for sure.

Lirin- I don't remember, because when I logged in I was in Q and they all shouted for me to go in, and when I got in they were running out...lol
And I'm not saying that more experienced PvPer's won't be better because they know little tricks like that. I'm saying that assuming someone who mostly plays on a blue server is just meat sitting around to be chewed is......idiotic
Nimm
All it takes is a little persistence and the knowledge and expertise will follow.
I hadn't PVP'd in EQ since the race war servers went live and then only for about 3 months before quitting EQ altogether. Now that I'm back I'm doing all the research I can on the tricks and pitfalls and it's paying off.
First and foremost (particularly for warriors like me *g*) is to never be alone. Travel, hunt, and PvP in numbers and you will be safe from the majority of lone and duo PK's (unless far higher in level than you and your group). Try to stay near other groups on your team and/or friendly guards. And learn the ropes.
s
I've already discovered that, as a warrior, never stop moving. I circle-strafe and joust when ready to swing. Pick a single target and stick to him/her like glue. Concentrate on a single enemy first! I usually pick out a spellcaster, hanging back, and keep them moving. A few whacks from a greatsword and forearms to the head and the skinny lil fizzlers lose heart fast. hehe. If you get rooted or snared, use your ranged weapon.
Again, best advice is to stay grouped. Only time I've been killed so far is when I was alone and ran into an enemy group. Root, mezz, blind, fire, ice, the works...dead. Not good.
Anyway, good luck and more power to the goods!

Coming from a blue server myself, though choosing the neutral team, I have to wonder how much of what the hardcore PvPers are saying is true about how far behind us bluebies are going to be? Far enough behind that it will compensate for the bluebie iksar having 5 or more levels on you? I don't know.
I will say that there IS a big difference between tactics used in PvP and PvE. For one things Mobs are generally considerate enough to stand still and focus their attention on the warrior calling their momma names. PCs aren't nearly so nice.
Plus, you have to consider, 'how steep is the PvP learning curve?' I can tell you from my experience that the first time I experience jousting, I wound up dead. I think/hope that I've learned how to deal with that particular tactic at least for my class. Time will tell. I just wouldn't be so quick to dismiss Evil as a 'bunch of bluebies that don't pose much of a threat'. Keep in mind that there are quite a few of your fellow hardcore PvPers over there as well. And they may be (and probably will be if their guild leaders are smart) teaching their bluebies how to deal with PvP tactics.
Anyway, time will tell, I suppose.

I feel I am definitely getting a good handle on my class, although I've never played a pure caster before.

The iksar newbie quests really help out, it just pisses me off that all the decent newbie quests in rivervale (carrots, stew etc) have been broken onpurpose, via verant despawning the reward npc.
I can see there intentions of not wanting lvl 10 halflings in 3 hours, but still, pisses me off iksars dont get the same thing.

Listen, I don't care how much dueling someone has done on a blue server, there are things you learn on a pvp server that you have to experience to know about. Taking NOTHING away from blue server people (b/c let's face it, most EQ pvpers came from a blue server at some point), there's lots to learn.
I know there was plenty that I had to learn when I moved to Vallon from Bertox to join Shanks, and I still learn new stuff today.

Whats even better is all the 'blue' people that for some reason think they are better at leveling than someone on a pvp server. I'll tell you a secret, the only reason a pvp player levels slower than a pve player is because they fight other players. People on pvp servers know just as much, or posibly more about level 1 to 35(which is the level range of people on SZ right now) than a blue player. Afterall we have to move around more because you can't always camp the spawn you want to on a pvp server.
