Poisons and PvP.

My rogue will be nearing the levels that give me the ability to use poisons on Sullon Zek. I was wondering if anyone knew of poisons I can make to start that will give me an edge in PvP without costing me an arm and a leg also. The types of poisons I am most concerned with are ones that snare/root, thus reducing a casters chance of running behind a building, up on a hill etc. I am already saving Zombie Skins and Asp Poison Sacs that I have been getting in Oasis/N&Sro.

Also any insight on how to use other poisons in PvP would be nice, on TZ with my 42 monk I had to sacrafice a lot of AC and +stat or + HP gear to get MR gear to avoid being rooted and keeping up with casters, now I am looking to keep the casters next to me .

EDIT : NOTE : The reason I had this in the Laboratory is because partof the question pertains to all rogues. I have read through some the manuals and honestly I am too lazy to figure out what they mean and many leave huge gaps of information. I'm leaving SZ when my guild leaves. Be it a month or 4 months. So I'm not making huge long term plans. Personally I don't think poison will be good on SZ. It's costly and it takes forever to gain skill and find components.

Poisons for cheap? Basically on a PvP server, all you really have to work with is a few DD poisons and maybe a DoT or 2. You may see if you can get componants for blind poisons and then the next step would be the movement restriction poisons.

STR dropping poisons are not that hard to get your hands on but it is not always useful.

Use asp poison, or blind poison, or snake venom
all three can be made with 20 make poison skill
for about 50 plat you can get high enough pottery
to make your own vials.

As long as thats ALL you do with poisonyour costs will remain cheap.

It really depends on your opponent and your surroundings.

Root poisons are great in most cases, and easy to make/raise skill because you can buy the components. Use root against casters (can mean a quick death) and some hybrids. It has limited use against melees, as you usually don't want to go toe to toe with a weighted axe-weilding warrior.

Snare poisons are my favorite. They work well for casters AND melee and tend to last a long time. They also tend to give the victim a false sense of escape (unlike root) which will often lead to silly mistakes.

Blind poisons work great as well, but you have to be in the right area to use them. If they have sow, and you don't, a blind opponent in the Karanas can just run away without fear of mobs (or you).

Against melees I usually go for damage (or snare). The system shock series is very nice.

Cheap alternatives? First of all, get pottery up high enough to make your own vials which will save you money. Focus on "cheap" poisons (which I still use with regularity) like weaken and injected. They're cheap b/c you don't need to buy the components and they're easy to find (loot off snakes and spiders).

Weaken poisons are the poor man's snare, and can work wonders against the right opponent, mainly pure casters and monks.

Pottery. My biggest problem with pottery is that you need those silly skins for vials. I suppose it is easier than some of the other items we are expected to farm, but I do my best to avoid farming whenever possible.

The game has enough flat out time sinks already, and adding more is more of an annoyance than anything else.

You can make a few spinebreak in WK for around 4plat a pop. Only takes a 32 skill to make them and it becomes trivial. Just put 20points into Make poison and your set. It may seem like alot of money but if you make your own vials (lined vials) then its only 2plat per poison. Spinebreak is Paralyzing poision 1. It roots and lowers target attack speed by 50% for 42seconds. well worth it. Skins are easy. Head to the wizzie pyramid in SK and you'll see a large spawn of skeles/zombies. If you spend 1/2 hour there you'll have a nice collection of skins. The zombies tend to drop two at a time and at times there are 10+ zombies there.
