Everything in a pvp encounter can be boiled down to 1 number the ratio of dmg done to dmg taken both numbers expressed as a percentage of the combatants hp.
Any measure taken will be to increase the dmg in a period of time or lessen dmg taken during that time period. Simple huh?
Pvp balance between 2 classes is the ability of both classes to realisticly obtain a 1 to 1 or better ratio in some range of situations.
To get the degree of pvp balance asign a weight to different types of scenarios ex. More weight to situations that will likely result in a kill, more in situations where one class completely dominates, and more for situations that will occur more often.
necro fighting rogue outdoors without a pet
necro fighting rogue indoors without a pet
necro fighting rogue outdoors with a pet
necro fighting rogue indoors with a pet
and add up the +s to each class.

wow
Pet just simply jack up PvP, since they are in essence an irresistable undispellable non-wearing off dot.

Pets suck vs...
Clerics
Shaman
Druids
Wizards
Mages
Necros
Enchanters
Rangers
Pallys
Bard
Sk
The only problem with pets is the ability of casters to run around with the pet hitting the melee while the melee range bug makes the caster immune to dmg.

First off your entire premise is wrong.
Second off, it's apparent you're dying to necros/pets. Just because you don't know how to play your class doesn't make the situation unbalanced.
Correct this by leveling up, gearing higher, learning the game, and only sticking around in situations advantageous for you.
Cut the drama.

Of course, some complain about pets (which are easily dealt with by just about every class), yet they run around with 180 in resistances and laugh at people trying to cast non-lure nukes on them.
Casters are more versital, thus they have an advantage in pvp. However, when you factor in resists, most caster classes instantly become sucky at pvp because you can resist everything they throw at you.
There isn't any balance in pvp as long as resistances can be jacked up as high as they can go now, and as long as Verant keep addings ways for people to kill eachother in under 10 secs, with 1 skill/spell.

/sigh ummmmm I didn't make ANY statements about class balance regarding necros and rogues. Not one. The examples regarding necros with pets and without, indoors and out were supposed to be a way to describe class balance without saying "dude class x is overpowered" "no way everyone knows class y is the @#%$"
For example say you think necros have pets up in 70% of pvp fights vs rogues and you think 50% of the total fights occur outdoors...
A fights with pet outdoors = 35%
B fights without pet outdoors = 15%
C fights with pet indoors 35%
D fights without pet indoors 15%
Then you could say what percentage on average roughly the rogue and the necro would win in each case and compare the classes.
Anyway the only comment I made regarding pets was in response to canbiks comment, and was stating that pets were LESS of an issue than he stated because of the above reasons but could be used in a lame manner in some cases. No drama at all here just facts.
As for your advice I'm 55 have good but not great gear and I do get the hell out of dodge when and if neccesary. Thanks for the sage advice though.
Really they are mostly a pain for melee's, cause they can bash you. Casters can root them, or sic their own pet on them, or sstep away, or whatever.
