Cartography System

When LoY with the cartography system, there was supposed to be some item or something needed to map certain zones. Months later, I still don't have any clue what that is. Was this ever put in game? Can someone PLEASE fill me in?

Nope, one of the gripes i still have about it too. I use the cartography tool a ton and hate not being able to map zones such as the elemental planes, Ssra, VT, and other such zones.

Dev1: THe new cartography system should make things much easier for players that get lost. What do you guys think?
Dev5: This is a good idea to a certain point, but I think we need to make them do a quest to map some of the top end zones..

Dev3: Now that the talking head is gone, lets add the cartography quest to the to-do list. It shouldnt take more than about 3 years to get it added into the game. Im sure there are more doors to fix, and PoM seriously needs to become just another slash and hack zone before this goes in. The players just had too many cool ideas for the zone for us to ever impliment them.

Dev 4: In the mean time, I will disable mapping in those zones to make sure there will be a use for our quest, if and when it ever gets added.

i petitioned about it one time. i asked "what is the point of a mapping system when every zone i ever hunt in has maps dissabled"

of course i got the response "only a few zones have mapping dissalowed" that's when i pointed out to him that every raid zone, elemental planes, ssra, vt, have mapping disabled. he didnt really have a good answer. i didnt really expect him to. but it made me feel a little better.

i still think it's @#%$. i see no reason for these maps to be disabled. it's not like maps dont already exist on the net. it's not like everyone doesnt already know the zone layouts. hell. even the map files for these zones exist. you just cant view them since the work around was nerfed.

i totally agree,there really is no reason to have any maps locked out anymore.
i can understand when an expansion first comes out,some maps are disallowed,for the purpose of not spoiling the zones.but after a couple months, every map has been mapped out and is on the net,on various websites.
they should just open the mapping feature,for all those zones by then.its been almost a year since PoPs been out,everything has been mapped out in it by now.

hell,i still dont know why ssra and the old planes like fear, hate and sky are blocked out.
either open them or make some easy Quest and get it over with.
