Quote:"Space commercials could embrace huge areas and a colossal number of consumers," he said. "This would literally be intercontinental coverage."

He said the satellites would be visible in the night sky by employing sunlight reflectors, with multiple satellites linked together to create a message large enough to be seen.

"People would be able to see writing in the skies from the Earth no worse than they see the stars," he said.

I'm normally pretty pro-business, but if this ever comes even close to happening to my night sky, I'll be leading the protests and boycotts personally.

Greed is really sucky thing. The heavens shouldn't be used as Etch-a-Sketches for businesses to write on.

I'm having a Futurama moment here, envisioning ads being beamed into our dreams as well.

The second ad the the right, shining so bright for you...

Actually, what it reminds me of are the ads near the gates in Cowboy Bebop, only to a much worse extent.

Well at least this way if alien life makes contact with us they'll know what products to buy to be cool and to make their lives better. I mean no one wants uncool alien life as our first contact right?

I remember seeing something about this in Omni magazine about 15 years ago... or maybe it was Popular Science. Even at the age of 11 or 12 I dreaded the day it would be made reality.

Ugh, I'd boycott any company that placed ads in the sky like that. The sky should belong to us all. I shouldn't have to look up and see that polluting my view.

Itll suck when we have to tell our children that the Big Dipper used to be right there behind Twinkie the Kid, and Scorpio is easy to find cause its just south of the tube of Crest.

I think this idea is absolutely obscene.

Is nothing sacred anymore?

Slyy, do you really even have to ask this? These aren't ethical nice people like say lawyers, they're advertisers. If they could I'm sure they'd make toilet paper that sang and flashed ads at you while you were on the toilet simply because you were a captive audience.

many moons ago when I was visiting some relatives in Yugosalvia ( many years before the civil wars when Yugosalvia was leader of the non aligned nations) I head this joke,

Guy: did you hear? the soviets went up to the moon and painted it RED!!!

Guy2: OH NO what did the Americans have to say about this?

Guy: nothing they just went up and painted Coca Cola across it.

I am frightened and simutaneously amused by the thought of a "You are the *random number* person to be born! Visit ____ to claim your prize!" ad bigger than a city..

I would also be one of those boycotting any company that would do this. It's bad enough I have to look at their ads everytime I even glance at a TV or magazine.
