Damm shame they screwed this game up. The half ass release into a extended play to pay beta that is still loaded with problems 6 months after it has been released! Never mind the fact that the first expansion has been delayed for more than 3 months due to the never ending problems with the current build.

Concerning the number of people playing SWG given by GS, about 100,000 if I remember correctly:

Quote:(Editor's Note: Subsequent to the publication of this article, GameSpy recieved the following official statement from John Smedley, President of Sony Online Entertainment:

"Star Wars Galaxies has much more than double the number of subscribers quoted on GameSpy. For the record, the title is doing very, very well and is the second largest MMO in the North American market.&quot

haha Smed, you keep telling yourself that... Edited by: Emmrys at: 3/17/04 4:37 am

Man, I wanted SWG to work so bad... I love Star Wars, but it just didnt give it. I must be the power gamer theyre talking about, really goal oriented, I want to always be better.

Sucky.

Im sure it does have 200,000 accounts. Thing is how many of those are active,or dormant,or with people who have double accounts.

Given that sony,or any company that has subsciptions, only really looks at the bottom line. It would not surprise me that SWG is considered a success in Their opinion.

I'm about the farthest thing from a power gamer but after about 4 months of casual play there was little let to do.... I really wanted SWG to work too, but it just didn't...article sums it up nicely

"I'm going to torment you until you're translucent!!!"

True Aiden, you are, unfortunately, probably exactly right.

I'm sure Artifact considers Horizons a huge success too. =P
