If you are not playing one of these games, please go out and get both or atleast one. A long awaited bresh of fresh air since the HL2 scandal of the fall.
All I can say is I am giggling like a schoolgirl, these games rock!
*dvd owners beware there have been some problems with the install of u2k4. __________

I've been fiddling with Battlefield Vietnam, it seems pretty fun. I'm still trying to decide whether or not I want to buy it. I most likely will, since the online play accounts for 99% of the fun
How is your experience with it online? ----------
"You there, fill it up with petroleum distillate, and re-vulcanize my tires, post-haste! Also, I'd like to send this letter to the Prussian consulate in Siam by aeromail. Am I too late for the 4:30 autogyro?" - Monty Burns
Weird, I went to Wal-mart, Target, and EB today. Wal-mart and target didn't have them out, and the people there had no idea what i was talking about when i said Battlefield Vietnam, they kept showing me the expansions for 1942. The EB games fellas said that they won't have it in til tomorrow. How's Vietnam Wix? It looks like it's gonna be a fun one.

I've read a bunch of disappointing things about BF:V so far so I think I'll be passing on it. Wasn't that interested anyway, having gotten back into Planetside recently and having a blast.

If only my Ti4600 wasn't crapping out on me because of both fans on the heatsink dying, I'd be on both of these in a second. But I fear for my graphics cards' life, I believe it could overheat and burn out. I really gotta get this fixed, or just buy a FX 5900 Ultra. (I'd take the latter if I was uberrich.)
Played the original BF nonstop since release day, and then DC when it was released until a couple months ago. I've heard some really cool things about changes in gameplay for Vietnam, and it sounds fun..
But alas, I am restricted to Xbox for my online gaming. Not too bad though, having Steel Battalion: Line of Contact and all.

Walking down steps, taking damage. Graphic lag even with settings turned down.
Those are some of the issues, lag sucks but that is always tweakable and other isssues will be patched.
Overall gameplay is great. You can select the rdio in any vehicle.
Every class has two different loadouts. Those who played the EoD mod will appreciate the tweaks to helicopters. I consider my an average helo pilot and the controls were smooth as better for my first ride.
Nice selection of maps from jungle battle, urban warfare and all out blitz.
One small annoyance, its seems like very map is conquest mode by default. So there are no uncapturable spawns. Every spawn point can be taken, so if your team is slacking you will be punsihed as the enemy surrounded you from all sides.
Foilage is nice, you can hide but you can still be found out. Weapon sounds are kinda of weak.
I still have to play it for awhile before I can give more feedback, but it is still 100% fun time and well worth it.

At first BF:V feels more like a really cool mod for the original BF game. But they have made some noticable improvements like the AI (a little bit smarter and much better at flying choppers ;P) flag capturing system, and the engine seems to run a little smoother.
I'm using a pirated copy of it, can somebody who owns it confirm whether or not there is a single player beyond instant battle?

Ragwheed, the only link I can think of right now was linked at penny arcade here.
Other than that, it's just been random people on message boards saying 'it's cool, but not much different than BF1942' and the like. I haven't read anything really bad about it, just indifferent enough that I'm not too interested.
To be fair though, I don't think my cpu could handle it anyway.
Been playing ut2k4 demo, assault and onslaught own, if you haven't tried the demo at least, download it. Assault is the best imo, one team attacks an objective (the demo has you attack a convoy of battleship sized trucks crossing the desert to steal some missiles) and the other is defending. Onslaught is like planetside if anyone has played that, except much smaller and faster (duh ), obtain bases and push forward until you get to the enemies homebase. Pretty cool, gonna go out and buy it soon i think.

Now they need to make a Forgotten Hope mod for BF:V's engine. FH is what BF1942 was meant to be.
