I'm not really expecting anyone to be able to turn this up, but I figured I'd give it a shot. I was watching the History channel a while ago - the History of Aviation. They had a video of the longest parachute jump ever made. The video was from the balloon the guy jumped from as he jumped. It was amazing. Does anyone have an idea where I might be able to turn this clip up. Here's some information to help you out:
The Jumper's name was Col. Joseph Kittinger, Jr. On August 16, 1960, he jumped out of a balloon from a height of 102,800 feet. I believe the program's name was Project Excelsior. He fell to a height of 18,000 feet before opening his parachute. The jump holds the record for highest ascent in a balloon, highest parachute jump, longest freefal (4.5 minutes) and fastest speed by a man through the atmosphere (714mph). I was able to turn that info up, and a picture, but no video. Any ideas?
Here's the picture, for fun's sake:
