*Author's note*
I am hopefully going to publish this book in the near future. Please don't use my work elsewhere. I would like to hear how you like it though.

Prelude

Lassaya and her partner, Drenc, crept closer. They were both afraid to breath for setting off the alarms. Drenc put his arm out to stop Lassaya; they froze. The buzzing finally stopped; they were safe, for now. They crept up by the bed; Drenc pulled out his dagger and with one swift slice, the noble was now dead. Lassaya pulled the sheet over the official’s head.
They crept out of the room. The buzzing started again. Both froze, too late. The motion sensors picked them up. A quiet beep started up. Both murderers tore for the stairs ahead. Grabbing the door knob, the killers dashed out the door and into the wood. “‘Dang,’” thought Lassaya. “We’re goanna have to out run these guys,” She told her partner.
“Plan 2,” he shouted. Plan 2 meant retreat.
“Split!” Lassaya shouted back over her shoulder. They both hopped in a tree and headed in opposite directions. “‘Thank goodness I’m a half-ling’” thought Lassaya scanning the area about her. Her dark elf part of her gave her night vision which made it 10 times easier to see around her. “‘high elves,’” thought Lassaya, “‘they don’t even have a chance. Fools, I could out run them in my sleep.’” The part wood elf tree hopped.
“‘Lassaya,’” a voice said in her head, Drenc. He was talking telepathically, another gift of the half lings. “‘Do you hear me?’” he sounded frantic.
“ ‘loud’n clear, wazzup?’” Lassaya thought back.
“‘They’re gaining on me. I don’t think I can fight them all. Come help me!’” Drenc cried.
Lassaya cursed. “‘Give me a minute.’” Turning, Lassaya hopped towards her friend. The high elves that were following Lassaya stopped and stood confused. Stupid high elves.
“‘Hurry, I can’t hold them much longer.’” Drenc pleaded about halfway to where Drenc had instructed.
“‘I’m going as fast as I can,’” Lassaya snapped at him. Lassaya found her friend, but stayed hidden in the trees.
“Where’s your friend terrorist boy?” One of the high elves sneered.
“Here I am.” Lassaya shouted as she jumped from a tree and sliced his head off with her drawn short sword. Seeing Lassaya, the others fled. “You’re ‘lright aren’tcha?”
“Fine, thanks for saving my life, I owe ya.” Drenc replied.

Chapter 1

“The wood elf negotiator’s son!” Lassaya repeated astonished.
“That’s our next assignment.” Drenc nodded.
“When do we leave?”
“Tomorrow.”
Lassaya smiled.
“Lassaya, in this skit, you are the main actress. The victim has to be alive.”
“ALIVE?”
“Yes,” Drenc nodded.

Lassaya waited, The plan, Lassaya repeated in her head, the drunk approaches, attempts rape, the kid saves me and I immediately fall in “love” with him. I ask to show him something and drag him to the trees, and then Drenc knocks him out and we reap our reward.
The negotiator’s son came down the street, talking to a man singing some strange song. They stopped to talk to a girl which snapped at the racket that the friend was making.
“Psst,”
Lassaya looked around to find Drenc in the tree above her.
“Improvise, our man is dead. He died of an overdose.” Drenc said in the branches.
“Why don’t you replace him and get this over with?” Lassaya asked.
“Fine, hold on a minute.” Drenc hopped out of the tree, “Ok, now what do I do?”
Lassaya gawked at him, “What do you mean? You’re a first class killer and you can’t even fake a rape or really do something like that?”
Drenc blushed like a little boy, “Lassaya, I’m not like the others. I don’t have sex with every girl I meet and I am still a virgin. I don’t know what to do in a situation like this. Re-”
“Ok, I get your point. Kiss me.”
Drenc looked confused, “Why-”
“Just do it. I’ll explain later.” Lassaya snapped.
Drenc shrugged and kissed her expecting a slap after wards. Lassaya stepped back. Drenc immediately stopped and asked, “What did I do wrong?”
“Nothing, keep it up and ignore what I do and run when the kid comes.”
Drenc awkwardly kissed Lassaya again. Lassaya twisted and turned in Drenc’s arms.
“Hey, you there, sir, leave her alone!” The negotiator’s son shouted, pointing at Drenc. He had taken the bait.
Drenc quickly fled from the scene. Lassaya fell to her knees in a “daze”. The negotiator’s son puffed his chest out importantly and asked, “Are you ok, miss?” He touched Lassaya’s arm gently.
Typical hero’s scene Lassaya thought, just like a helpless puppy. This is goanna be easier than I thought. Playing her part in the scene, she hugged the guy and said, “Thank you so much I was so frightened.” Lassaya sat there for a minute before an idea struck her head, “Oh, dear,” Lassaya stood up and called, “Paul, Paul,”
“If I may ask, who is Paul?” The kid asked still sounding important.
“My brother, that mean man punched him and then took me here.” Lassaya said circling the tree calling Paul’s name again.
“May I help you look for your brother?” The wood elf asked.
“Oh thank you, please can you search over by that tree over there?” Lassaya pointed to the tree Drenc was hiding in.
The wood elf’s negotiator’s son walked over to the tree and searched the area around it. Drenc jumped on top of the guy and punched him. The guy threw Drenc off of him. The boy punched Drenc hard in the stomach. Drenc gritted his teeth and punched back. The kid’s nose bled. The negotiator’s son grabbed Drenc by the neck and shoved him up against a tree.
Oh no. I need to help him. Lassaya bit her bottom lip.
“Wait!” she shouted. “I, um, can I ask him something. He may have been with the guy that ran.” Drenc relaxed a bit.
“Go ahead and ask him,” Charleston said.
“Mister-,” Lassaya said.
“Drenc”, Drenc interrupted.
Lassaya said, “Mr. Drenc, Do you know that guy that was trying to hurt me?”
“No ma'am. I have no clue. He just told me to jump that guy.” Pointing to the negotiator’s son. “Because he would hurt you.” Drenc looked at ‘that guy’. “I wouldn’t want to hurt you ma’am. I was in fact on my way to pull that guy off my self until he did it. I like to win my favor with pretty nobles like yourself. I, um, I mean that I like ladies, but not in that way. I am married and have a kid at home. So I wouldn’t want to do anything that I could just go home and do to my wife.” Drenc swallowed.
“Do you know who I am?” the wood elf asked his eyes flared. Drenc shook his head no. “I am Charleston Ishida heir negotiator of the wood elves. Do you know what else I don’t like? I don’t like liars. You are part of the Elvin Terrorists aren’t you.”
Drenc looked surprised. “I don’t lie. And what is the Elvin Terrorists?”
A bystander let out a cry. “ Dark Elves” Everyone scattered.
Charleston dropped Drenc and turned to Lassaya. “Let’s go” Lassaya didn’t get a chance to argue. Charleston took her hand and left. Drenc kicked the ground and cursed.

Chapter 3

Lassaya never wanted to make that trip again. It was over one mile to the palace. Lassaya was inside the castle walls of the wood elf palace.
Shoot the dark elves Lassaya thought cursing.
Charleston took her shoulders in his hands and held her arms length away, “Are you ok?”
Lassaya felt like just killing him right then and there. “Y-yes, I’m fine.” Lassaya lied trying to take a step. Her legs could not support her any longer; She collapsed.
Charleston pulled her back on her feet.
Stupid wood elf. Lassaya thought. To tell the truth, Lassaya had never moved so quick over a short period of time. One second she was facing Drenc, the next, she was watching the landscape around her zip past.
“Do you run over long distances, ma’am?” There was true concern in Charleston’s Voice.
“N-n” Lassaya Swallowed hard, “No, I don’t.” Lassaya finally got out.
“Sorry if I scared you.” Charleston said looking away.
Is he really concerned about me? Lassaya thought asking herself, Poor victim, He may be cute, but I have got to get out of here. Lassaya looked for an escape route, but found none. Every thing was so guarded it would be impossible to get away unnoticed.
“I, um, I’m sorry, I think I was a bit rash running off with you like that. Where do you live? I mean-” Charleston rushed on “I’m Charleston Ishida, Heir Negotiator of the wood elves. You are…”Charleston said sweeping into a graceful bow that probably took years to accomplish so perfectly.
Lassaya held her hand out and without any hesitation, said, “I am Lassaya Lightningheart of the wood Elves, nice to meet you Lord Ishida.”
Charleston took her hand and kissed it twice and replied, “Pleasure’s all mine. It is Charleston to you.” He dropped her hand and offered his arm.
Lassaya took his arm, “I’m sorry I am cutting our visit short,” She smiled at him, “But I really must find…um, Paul. Please, its getting dark and he must be hungry.” Lassaya looked away to hide her smile.
Charleston took it as Lassaya was upset. “I’m so sorry I should not have been so rash. I’ll take you back if you want me too.”
Lassaya looked up at him, “Would you?” He smiled. “Oh, thank you, thank you so much.” Lassaya hugged him.
