Anyone still here ... anyone
Reply With Quote   #1

Not sure what got into me but I just took a new job and am living in a hotel and was looking at (of all things) the straight dope message boards when I found a post about LOTR Online and I just got curious. Downloaded the free trial and, after about the third beer, bought the damned game online...

It's graphically pleasing to say the least. My little burglar is fun and sneaky and isn't the DPS machine most other games seem to stick us with...

Not sure if this means a long or permanent break from EQ (yeah I'm still there) or a short vacation but it's so far, well fun!

Anyone there anymore or have I entered a void? Iím not to a level yet where Iím adverse to rerolling Ö anyone still play, what server?

(one quick question, if I delete my hobbit, with the intention of rerolling, will his name again be available or once itís used is it gone for good?)

I played it for a while but all turbine games decided to start crashing on my laptop, no reason or fix ever found.

I started playing this back when it went Free-to-Play.

Pretty cool. Gives me something to do between WoW updates.

I'm playing this game a lot recently for the express reason that it has the best free to play model i have come across. You pay for content and to do things faster, but you never get the feeling you are being squeezed by having to pay for things you have earned, like other games.

It also helps the game is huge.

I believe this thread is averaging two posts a year.

Granted, now I've really warped the figures.

First! (in 2013)

I'm still in LotRO on Elendilmir (guild is Thirsty Travelers). Me and some friends play Mondays and another couple of nights a week.

I still enjoy it. The world is getting larger and larger all the time.

Mounted combat is pretty dang fun (except the occasional rubberbanding problem).

With skirmishes and all of the level-adjustable instances and the handful of raids... never bored.

Still a fun casual game for me and recently got an old gaming buddy involved in it so some friends all rolled up new toons and are taking a walk through all the content again (a lot of which has been reworked by Turbine).

At any rate... I'll drop by next year and see if this gets a followup! (hehe)

I'm back rather than still here, but I do toy with going back to LotRO sometimes. My main problem is that I don't have many particularly-strong happy memories of the game. It was fun, but I am not sure it was enough fun when I was still playing it.

Without a good fellowship, I wasn't getting very far and so I stopped playing out of boredom.
