Yet Another Returning Rogue!

I've been a long time member of the safehouse, even going back in the ez_board days. I've recently returned to the game after leaving on the 10th Anniversary. Of all my characters, I missed Thye, being as he was the one I truly roleplayed as a Swashbuckling Shadowblade. I'm lucky enough to come back to my guild (after serveral mergers) and most importantly some of my friends (shout out to Scorshe, Pizacatto, Tico, Puluvil, and Zhadowstorm! Thanks for helping me get back on my feet.).

So I've been back just under two weeks and have learned that much has changed. I've been absorbing as much as I can with regards to the changes. I'm not familliar with any of the new zones and content since 2009. I do plan on going through the EQ updates sometime this week-end to familliarize myself with some of the changes.

A couple of things I've been able to accomplish over the last 12 days:
Equipped with Elaborate Defiant or Elegant Defiant gear as I can afford it or if it's a hand me down.
Went from 58 to 72 using the hot zones as much as possible.
Invested into AA to up my DPS a bit and get SoS and Escape w/Hasty Escape.

What I do know:
My discs are now tomes I need to purchase.
Proc potions are available in PoK.
AA exp has a sliding scale of boost up to certain point then becomes harder to earn.
Vendors near CR portal sell non visible gear
Franklin Teek near GH offers Hot Zone gear quests
Mercs

Short term goals for the next two weeks:
Gear up a bit more
Learn about new places other than Hot Zones
Get to level 85
level up my poison making skills from 150ish to 300ish

Questions I have about the game;

1 - I'm looking for suggestion on gear that's doable to get either through quests and/or a single group. What kind of gear should I be going for past the elegant/elaborate defiant in my mid 80s to early 90s with that in mind?

2 - Weapons for the off hand. Should I stick to a piercer or take any other 1Handed? Any suggestions for mid 80's to early 90s?

3 - AA's. I'm going through the damage avoidance ones first. Then the proc and proc crits. After that I'm at a loss and I'm being drawn to Anatomy and maxing out Hasty Escape. I currently have about 75 AAs invested. What are some recommendations for the next 800 or so?

4 - I'd really like to experience some of the content from the following expansions, either molo or in a group. The Buried Sea, Secrets of Faydwer, Seeds of Destruction, Underfoot, House of Thule. Any suggestions?

As always the safehouse community is the best place IMHO to ask these questions. I know I'm asking a lot here, but any pointers will be greatly appreciated!

Hello and welcome back!

1) You should look into the HoT groupable gear. That expansion is still really popular and has some relly nice gear for 80~90. Mostly the abstruse and the terror infused linked ALL/ALL armor that drops in HoT T1, both are req 80. Same goes for non-visibles.

2) Get another weap. The Axe of the woodcutter is generally popular at 80 (Drops in HoT i believe ?).

3) Focus on DPS, get the offhand damage, double attacks, tripple BS, crits etc. Proc and proc crits are nice, but these i listed are more important imo. Defensives are also important of course, as well as the survivability AAs (like hasty exit). Anatomy is nice, but it's not really usefull untill the level 90 AA.
You should really get some AA before heading to 85, level 80 is a nice level to get some AA as you get access to some nice group gear that allows you to solo easier. For example, at level 80 using HoT group gear i was soloing in RSS, it is some really good and easy exp.

4) Can't say much about TBS, didn't play when it was current. SoD is really fun, i really liked the way the group progression is done in that expansion. Tosk and Kaesora Library are still popular EXP zone.
HoT was a good expansion too for the groupers, the prog is also fun to do. I hightly suggest you start there once you reach / get closer to 80.

Thanks for the tips. I will definitely be following your advice! I've talked to a few friends about doing hot t1, so hopefully here in the near future I'll get a shot at it (and hopefully I survive!)

Abstruce gear shouldn't be to hard to obtain, and is quite nice.

The best ratio you can get is the way to go for now. At 95 with aa's you will eventually switch to only piercer.

Depends on your playstyle, it sounds like you have a number of friends still playing. So if you find yourself grouping most of the time, I would suggest getting the first 3 ranks of combat agility and combat stability but other then that go primarily offensive aa's.
If you find yourself soloing for the most part, then I suggest keeping anatomy maxxed and mix up your defensive and offensive aa's as you go.

Seeds and previous you can prolly molo most of the progression, the other, bring your friends! Some pretty fun missions and stuff in there, definitively worth going through

Also if you don't know about them already utility poison's are nice to use as well. In both group and solo situations. You can use one of the utility poisons along with the DD poisons you buy in pok. The table in the link below will help you with making them, and tells what they each do.

Ohhh, nice link Crillin, didn't know about that headshot guide. PoF C1 and C2 are some really nice solo exp spot! Especially since assassinate will work there, with HoT T1 gear it is propably super easy. It is worth raising some defs and anatomy for that spot. On the other hand, it's a popular exp spot so it can be crowded (you know, ranger armies)!
