I logged onto my computer yesterday and I have all these ^%$# emails from people I don't know. I open the from the IT ADMIN at some Army base in Korea. Thanks for pics. All the rest have similar replys like. Is that your wife, is that your finger etc and I am like wtf. Must be a damn virus or some other %$#@. So I unplug and virus scan. Nothing found. I file scan still nothing. So I bring the piece of #$%^& over to the IT guys and tell them whats up and they start laughing. I am thinking yah very %^&*( funny you are not the who has porn being sent to random people over a government network you %$#@. Now comes the crushing reality it embedded in my PST file and the can't get it out. Policy dictates they have to format the hard drive and rebuild the ^%$# laptop. No big deal right. Yah wrong &*() answer. I was sent over with some piece of &^%$ that hardly anyone uses because it is a piece of $%#@. Of course I do not have a system restore CD you %$#@. I am not a network admin guy and therefor I am not allowed to possess such an item you ^&%^. Of course they do not have one either those stupid[id ^%$# idiots. It has been 2 days and they can't figure out how to get this piece of $%#@ to work and load the (*)- drivers. Now I am sitting here on a desktop in my office and the keyboard on this thing is fubar'd. Having to finger punch every ^%$# key because they stick and I am getting a cramp in %$#@ hands. I swear this is going to be one those ignorant technology office computer incidents when this keyboard goes flying down the hallway.

Sorry i cant help you out with a solution to your problem, i'm 6 credit hours away from obtaining my bachelors degree in computer science, so in the eyes of "corporate america" i'm still a nincompoop that dont know $&%* if i stepped in it!

Nah just the usual crap you go through when you are in the military. Everything is twice as long, twice as complicated, and cost twice as much. These &^%$ are making huge bank over here in Kuwait. Job security seems to be the wave of the future. At least it has been for a while. Can't say I blame them though with the way things are with jobs and crap.

Formating your PC won't make the spam go away. You need to take this to your email admin and not some workstation support monkey.

Uh... Netsky doesn't do anything to PST files.

NOTHING touches PST files. They can be deleted, but that's it.

Most likely, the story is that someone with you on their address list has been infected, and netsky is spamming with your name. Therefore, you get all the bounced mails, NOT them.

If it IS somehow "embedded in your PST file"... delete it, and start over. Sure, you lose all your saved mails, contacts, calendar, etc... but you'll be doing that anyway. Netsky is found by all the leading AV software (even Norton), tho I do believe Norton has issues cleaning it. There is NOTHING in your PST file. Your IT monkeys are jerking you around. Go get some IT ninjas to shape them up.

I wish I could find some out here. I believe you guys are right though because I am still getting emails from people about pics and video clips. PST is gone. 5 months of data lost forever. Computer has been formatted and now I do not have things the way I want them and I can't get them that way because of administrator privileges. I am going to some research on the internet about this virus just so I can understand it better. This is the first I have ever been infected by one. They did put some new and updated anti virus software on my computer though. At least something good came out of it. Good thing I will be going home in a couple months and don't have to deal with this crap out here anymore. At least for another year anyway.

I did some reading on the net and obviously read what you all have posted. I agree that I am not infected and these guys are idiots. Still though they know more than me so of course I believed what they had to say. No point in going over there agin and trying to tell the %^$# they are wrong. Damage is done now I have to just get on with things. I will definitely do my homework next time though before I go see the %$@) again.
