Anyone else remember the days when TechTV would sponsor stuff that didn't make you want to gouge your own eyes out at the sheer horror? I miss those days.
Okay, here's a couple facts for those new to costume design:
-Video game/anime women aren't shaped like normal women. Normal women look terrible in those costumes. There are real women who can make them look good, but they're the exception, not the rule. Therefore, cosplaying scantily clad game/anime females must be done with extreme caution.
-Farah is unusual in that she is ridiculously skinny for a reason. It's so she can squeeze through cracks in the wall instead of tiptoeing over spike traps and running through sawblades like the player has to.
-As a result of the two facts stated above, it is perfectly all right to accept that you can't pull off this kind of costume. It's just admitting that you're shaped like a normal human.
-Cosplaying is something many people put a lot of time and effort into. Part of the reason for this is because it is fairly obvious when you take elbow pads and freaking spray-paint them, and it looks like ****.
-To my knowledge, here are very few Soul Caliber characters that glob on makeup and hug stuffed puppies. Voldo in his spare time, maybe. We try not to ask.
-It would be fairly difficult to shoot zombies with a bow while equipped with Fake Nails of +2 Sluttiness.
-Stilettos are good. Stiletto heels aren't.
-If you have a conspicuous tattoo, you have three options. You can either a) cover it up, b) consider it an original addition to the character, or c) wear white see-through pantyhose and look like a dumbass.
-It's an accepted fact that not everyone has the money to spend on a good wig. However, if you are involved in a professional production, it's assumed that you'd have enough cash to at least attempt to keep from looking stupid.
Did anyone here have the courage to watch this abomination? Who were the other poor characters?
That entire awards show was a joke(even moreso than most award shows), I mean, every time they panned to the audeince, it was just female models for the whole thing. Where are the gamers? Or the people that MAKE those games?
G4 just really pisses me off. They took something that was awsome in TechTV and pissed "lowest common denominator" all over it.
And those constant programs that are nothing more than a half hour of letting the game developer hock his wears? Ugh.
Thank god that so far X-Play is still around and seemingly not adversly affected.
