I got a trojan horse, The "Internet Optimizer" one. I got rid of it, but now my home page in internet explorer will not stay to what I want it to be... instead, after a reboot, it changes itself to:
81.211.105.9/index.php?v=1
I have tried deleting temp files, cookies and history but it wont go away...virus check detects nothing either.... anyone have a clue? I tried looking it up on google but had no luck
Download hijackthis and run it on your computer, if you see something you dont particularly recognize, perferably with "search" in the name, clean it up.
Hope that helps.
Edit: On second though, if you arent sure what is good or bad, save the log and post it here, we'll help you find out what needs to be fixed. Edited by: Bondori Zafiro at: 12/7/03 3:31 pm
woohoo thanks a lot, that saved me a TON of trouble. I had been running spybot and virus check...then i looked at how to remove the program but that damn webpage kept staying there....
that hijackthis found everything and worked greatly, thanks again
You may find Camtech 2000's "IE Restrictions" program handy too. camtech2000.com/Pages/Restrictions.htm
It lets you change hidden settings in IE4+. Some are aimed more at network administration, but some let you lock certain settings so annoying sites can't change them and such.
