Converting an AVI/WMA movie to a gif?
Reply With Quote   #1

I have a small avi file I ripped from a adult swim special on VH1, and I'd like to convert it to a gif so I can use it as my avatar.

The problem is I really dont know how to do that other then manually taking pictures with print screen.

Could anybody point me in the right direction to a program that works? I did a google search for "convert avi to gif" and found a few programs, none of them worked, though.

Btw the movie can be found here, I had planned on touching it up once it's in gif with adobe imageready.

Edit: Your sig and personal pic are both larger than allowed by forum rules.. Please adjust accordingly.. Edited by: Aidden at: 12/16/03 4:50 pm

Image ready can take AVI's if I recall correctly it seems they can open other movies as well.

for some reason the codec you're using doesn't like my version of of Imageready. (I know I went the long way around this but hey I'm stuck at work and I'm bored.) opend Windows movie maker and turned it into a WMV that I pulled into After Effects and then saved that video file to an image sequence. from there Imageready pulled it in.....

and here ya go

it's in the origional size and as uncompressed as I could make it. I'll leave you to tweak it as you need to. (ps I'm deleting it off my site in about a week please save a local copy)
