I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death. - George Carlin
Called the Fish Empathy Project, the campaign reflects a strategy shift by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals as it challenges a diet component widely viewed as nutritious and uncontroversial
fish is the most recomended food by most experts , and you are trying to stop it ? they are going to have the same luck as meat campain mostly
if you ask me , PETA aren't doing this the right way , if i was in charge of PETA i wouldn't spend my money on idiotic ads , i would open a chain of steak houses ! , and have big TV screens in everyone of them , playing videos of dead , bloody cows and chicken and fish , i would rig the serving steak dish with recorded messages about animal rights and such
people would try to enter the resturant to appose PETA , but they will lose the will to eat meat , and only think of veggi steaks and the likes
and to attract people to the resturant issue give out cupon and 50% off cupons to students and in newspapers .
I think that PETA should starve themselves to death, because somewhere, someone is empathizing with the plants they're killing to keep their waste of air bodies alive.
I've always liked to argue that position, but mostly just to bother militant vegitarians.
Plants are alive. Not sentient like animals you say? So? That just means animals have the means to run away and plants don't. Why does that give us the right to slaughter plants.
That's entirely the wrong approach, an over-arching campaign like that just yells "Kook!" They need to splinter into seperate groups, one to point out that commercial fishing is unsustainable, another to point out how destructive open water aquaculture is, one more to drive home that the reshwater fish you just pulled out of the lake is much to polluted to actually eat. Before too long nobody's eating fish because they can't find any cheap fish, and you never had to sell the "Eating fish is wrong" statement.
Look at how the Christian right operates, they are much more effective than PETA. Many single-issue groups, the large ones changes names and leadership every few years. The brand and fund-raising problems this causes more than pays off by shielding your agenda from the disinterested observer.
To get a full grasp of the quackery and duplicity of PETA; everyone should watch the PETA episode of Penn and Teller's: ********.
Has anyone here ever actually spoken to a PETA grunt? I'm talking to ground level picketers. Not an original idea in their head, barely breathing pre-programmed automatons only capable of regurgitating someone else's opinion because they're genetically weak minded.
Had some bitch throw fake blood on my jacket once because she thought it was leather. It's ****ing pleather. That's right; plastic bitch. The police were already there and stopped me from breaking her ****ing head open.
I have an idea. I'm going to start a collection of poisonous snakes. Get about 150 rattlesnakes from my south 40 and drop em off in the middle of their picket line.

Hate PETA. Love fish. :D

Hey, you know how many marine animals die due to oil spills to make that plastic you're wearing? Next time, wear fig leaves!
That episode on Pen and teller was hilarous. God that rainforest activist didnt know what the heck was going on and what she was supporting.
And then those beachbums preaching about why starving contries shouldnt get geneticly engineered food, made me want to beat them sensless....but it looks like that already happened.
the idea of throwing blood shows how little brain power they actually have...i'm sure the animal that blood came from willingly gave it to them so they can fling it at people
PETA must be trying to alienate everyone now. I know a number of 'animal rights' type supporters, who are nigh-vegetarian, with the only meat type food they eat being fish.

A major distinguishing feature between plants and animals is that plants have no nervous system. Because of that, there's no way for a plant to feel pleasure, pain, et cetera. This is not so in animals. It's a common mistake, however, to believe that the majority of vegetarians refuse to eat meat because of some belief that causing pain is innately wrong. This is in fact pretty rare. If you sit down and respectfully ask vegetarians why they don't eat meat, most will tell you that it's because of how the meat industry, like any other industry, seeks to create as much profit for itself as possible, regardless of how animals are treated in the process. I.e., the origin of all those great 'horror' stories you hear about. The purpose isn't to create a world where no one eats animals, but rather to increase awareness of the problem and, eventually, ideally, get some legislation passed to alter the situation.
There are plenty of stomach-turning examples as to why this is a good cause, but when you start talking about them people stick their fingers in their ears and go, "La la la! Anyone who sympathizes with animals is a PETA drone! La la la!"

I've definately met many vegetarians that fit into this class, but then they're not really vegetarians, since they eat meat as long as it's not factory farmed.
Plants don't have nervous systems, it's true. They do react to changes in their living conditions, but just changes on a different scale then we measure them. That is to say, a plant will grow towards light and out of shade, will change it's root growth towards better sources of water and so on. Just because they don't feel pain doesn't mean they don't adjust themselves to preserve their life. Why should we define pain as "something like human's feel"? That's blocking off a whole lot of life from being considered life
(Disclaimer: I eat anything and everything. I don't believe that these ideas should prevent me from eating plants. I just think they're valid ideas.)

That's the point where you just look at her and completely deadpan go "How appropriate, fake blood thrown by a fake environmentalist at my fake leather. Do I file fake charges for this?"
Animal rights and environmentalism aren't really the same thing. They're related, close enough to be able to fight like brother and sister, but their goals are different.
Actually plants do feel pain, but its on a cellular level. SO really, when you eat broccoli you are causing pain to millions of creatures with each bite.
Thats why I love broccoli.
I also love cats, they're delicious.
just kidding. The above statements contain sarcasm and do not represent the opinions of The SafeHouse.
Actually when it happened I was already having a bad day and I would have spent the night in jail if not for the swift actions of two nearby officers who got between us before I broke her bleachblond 'I've never experienced anything outside of college' neck.
The incident made the news, the protest I mean. It was at a Sam Seltzer Steakhouse here in Orlando.
I was ready to curbstop that girl. I still get fired up thinking about it.
Listen up brothers and sisters come hear my desperate tale
I speak of our friends of nature trapped in the dirt like a jail
Vegetables live in oppression, served on our tables each night
This killing of veggies is madness, I say we take up the fight
Salads are only for murderers, coleslaw's a fascist regime
Don't think that they don't have feelings, just cause a radish can't scream
Chorus:
I've heard the screams of the vegetables (scream, scream, scream)
Watching their skins being peeled (having their insides revealed)
Grated and steamed with no mercy (burning off calories)
How do you think that feels (bet it hurts really bad)
Carrot juice constitutes murder (and that's a real crime)
Greenhouses prisons for slaves (let my vegetables go)
It's time to stop all this gardening (it's dirty as hell)
Let's call a spade a spade (is a spade is a spade is a spade)
I saw a man eating celery, so I beat him black and blue
If he ever touches a sprout again, I'll bite him clean in two
I'm a political prisoner, trapped in a windowless cage
Cause I stopped the slaughter of turnips by killing five men in a rage
I told the judge when he sentenced me, "This is my finest hour,
I'd kill those farmers again just to save one more cauliflower"
Chorus
How low as people do we dare to stoop,
Making young broccolis bleed in the soup?
Untie your beans, uncage your tomatoes
Let potted plants free, don't mash that potato!
I've heard the screams of the vegetables (scream, scream, scream)
Watching their skins being peeled (fates in the stir-fry are sealed)
Grated and steamed with no mercy (you fat gourmet slob)
How do you think that feels? (leave them out in the field)
Carrot juice constitutes murder (V8's genocide)
Greenhouses prisons for slaves (yes, your composts are graves)
It's time to stop all this gardening (take up macrame)
Let's call a spade a spade
(is a spade, is a spade, is a spade, is a spade......)
