Mmmm, good toons

Anybody catch todays Teen Titans, Justice League Unlimited, and Megas XLR? I thought they were really good this week. I normally dont enjoy Megas, although i frequently watch it but thats a whole nother thread =)

Teen Titans
pros:
-philosophical epiphony journey
-nice script (better than usual)
-the bear has a cool voice and a good scene
-good fights (better than usual)
- the robins

cons:
-stupidly dressed enemy
[s:ee85677a96]-old annoying people[/s:ee85677a96] (ok that was actually pretty cool)

Justice League Unlimited
pros:
-Batman playing good cop
-Hal Jordan cameo
-good fights (better than usual, with one exception)
-time space paradox (nobody does it better than DC)
-nice script (better than usual)
-creative punishment of villain minions (meteor anyone?)

cons:
-"What's the big idea?" Why do people still put that in their scripts?
-Static Shock

Magas XLR
pros:
-pirates
-magic food machine
-"Vampire Cheerleaders"
-pirate robots
-relatively tasteful Harlok parody

cons:
-inherent lameness that accompanies Megas XLR (although it was severely reduced on this one)
-one element short of ninja-pirate-robots

I enjoy Megas XLR as a mindless show, quite fun to watch if you just shut off your brain. Always good for a giggle or two, if only for the parodies of other shows. My favorite is the Sailor Moon/Power Ranger type ripoff... I laughed the whole time.

Teen Titans rocks. The animation is good, and the storylines are usually well done. It's always fun to watch, usually makes me laugh a bit too.

Justice League rocks. So does Justice League Unlimited. Animation is good, storyline is good, lvarious "grown up" things are in it, such as Wonder Woman and Batman's little thing, and Hal Jordan (Green Lantern) and the Birdlady whose name I don't remember. Makes me think there's hope for us grown up cartoon fans.

I catch them when I can, and tonight I was distracted by "Chupacabra: Dark Seas." Such a wonderful horribly bad movie. Heh.

SciFi channel always has some wonderful bad movies. I got 2 classic lines today. In "Monster," I got to hear this one. Scene: Guy and girl in backseat of car. Guy making moves, girl going along, but being upset because he's acting like a wigger. Ends up hearing a noise. He tries to play it off, she finally says, "Go out there and check it out, or I'm putting my panties back on." That ROCKS! Second best line of the day is in the current "Chupacabra: Dark Seas" movie. Guy is standing there, John Rhys Davies is the captain of the ship, and his daughter is hot. The girl turns towards the guy as he locks and loads his gun, and says "Insurance salesman, huh?" He finishes it, looks at the gun, then back at the girl, and says "I'm the best insurance you've got." How much better can it get?

I think they were going really old school there. I think they were going for G-Force, if anybody except me remembers that show.

I watched G-Force in the late 70s. I never heard of Voltron until the mid-80s sometime.

The OP was posted before any of the shows aired in my timezone, so I had plenty of warning of what to expect.

And I also liked all the robins.

I don't get Cartoon Network, so the only one of these I get to watch regularly is Teen Titans on WB.

Which I like quite a bit.

Static Shock sucks majorly. The theme song alone is enough to make me want to piledrive my tv set. My guess is that it's on there so Cartoon Network can earn some political correctness points, and anyone who says it sucks will seem like a racist, so nobody said anything.

Static Shock had a good starting premise, but now the plots/morals are extremly repetitive.

I love that XLR show haha It's sooooooooooooooo dumb. The one with the Spider-Robot was funny.

Know what show sucks? New Batman one.

How can you forget the greatest American cartoon ever made?

Invader ZIIIIIM!

Gotta find me that box set.

Which just goes to show, children; dreams inevitably end in horrific implosions.

Never watched it... i have a long standing bias against anything nickeloadeon. Its something about my childhood and how Rugrats dominated it.
