Now, I'm not a hacker... but I am a geek and a nerd. The thought of hacking has had a romantic appeal to me since I first saw the (horribly innacurate, but still great) movie "Hackers", but I've never had the drive to learn how nor the wish to download that program used by many a pimply highschooler who wanted to impress his equally pimple-marked friends.

Anyways, if I was lucky enough to attend this I'd still be sure to have a geek-gasm. Hacker or not.

I'd go to it if I wasn't stuck in the middle of nowhere new mexico.

On a side note...Hacking isn't really hard, it just requires patience...and for most people it's probably better that they don't know how to hack. Keeps em out of trouble.

At NMSU they had an ecommerce security class last semester which taught the fundamentals of hacking including using programs like netcat. I'm sure it was pretty small potatoes to what real hackers do, but it was still awsome.

Defcon was pretty good too. There were a lot of relatively stupid talks, but the good ones made it worth it.
