The Windows update reboot
Reply With Quote   #1

I run windows up dates..... yes I know that I will need to reboot for them to take effect. And I DON'T need you remindng me every 10 minutes to reboot wihle I'm either in the middle of a raid or working intently on something at work...

soooo... Is there a way to disable the 10 minute rebooot notification message?

I just set my automatic updates to download but install only after checking with me first. That way it doesn't install the update until I want it to be installed.

I do the same thing as Ruccus.

One way to deal with your issue is not to click Later. Just move the popup out of the way (you can drag it down so that only a sliver of the title bar is still showing). Since the box is still there, it won't pop up again.

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Group Policy Objects\{497BDAC0-A899-4839-A1A5-9E57F4F67BE9}Machine\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU] "RebootRelaunchTimeoutEnabled"=dword:00000001 "RebootRelaunchTimeout"=dword:0000003c
Or you can do it with the Group Policy Editor
  • Go to Start, Run and type gpedit.msc
  • Select Local Computer Policy
  • Computer Configuration
  • Administrative Templates
  • Windows Configuration
  • Windows Update
  • And then look for the Re-prompt for restart with scheduled installations option

I set mine to 60 minutes. That way it's not constantly harassing me, but I also don't forget that I need to reboot.
