Thief - Deadly Shadows

So, I'm a bit of a savage but I never actually got around to buying this one. I'd played through Thief: The Dark Project and Thief 2: The Metal Age as well as some of the user created mods, but when Thief 3 came out, it just kinda drifted past my consciousness. I played the Demo, but never got off the pot and bought it.

So recently, I read a thread over on SA that was a Thief Appreciation Thread and I got to thinking about the series and soon remembered that I had missed the newest one. I shot over to Ebay and about 30 seconds and 8 bucks later I had me a brand new copy.

Jeebus...if there's any heathens(Pagans?) out there like myself that for whatever reason passed this up until now, get to it and buy this. It ain't gonna get much cheaper...

It looks simply gorgeous, it sounds just as fantastic as it ever did and it's in part free form, unlike the previous games.

Anyway, consider this a Thief appriciation thread. Speak freely.

EDIT: Forgot to mention. I also forgot the joys of spending 3 hours in a level slowly creeping, watching movement patterns, dousing lights and systematically owning an entire castle. Much love.

The first level of the first thief is what I wanted the whole game to be.

I hated the zombies / holy water crap.

Yea, verily, appreciate thy Thief.

I hated the zombies / holy water crap.
Yeah, I thought it was kind of odd that they wanted to add some horror elements to Thief; I really enjoy the human medieval setting better. Oh well, I haven't got to that stuff yet in my PC game (might have when I rented it for XBox, don't remember) so I'll just hope a large portion of the game won't be zombie killing.

It's about 50/50 among the fans from what I understand with the zombie level hatred. 'Down in the Bonehord' or something like that was one of my least favorite gaming experiences to date actually. That said, it still does not diminish my love for the rest of the game/series.

Thief 2 is more what you're looking for and 3 is a good inbetween.

If you already know how to download fan missions for Thief 2, I highly recommend the T2X: Shadows of the Metal Age, the complete campaign from the mod community.

I also hate zombie levels, which is why I LOVE Thief 2. The steam golems might seem annoying at first, but at least you can stealthily despose of them, unlike zombies(zombies wouldn't bother me at all if you could get rid of them like you can guards, but most of the methods of taking them out either cause a ****load of noise, or require the use of items you are in far too short a supply of).

I also don't like scary **** in games.

Spoilers:

That said, I HATE HATE HATE The Cradle in T:DS...I realize it's a brilliant work of first person survival horror, but I just fell apart playing it the first time.

Otherwise, its a great game. Don't much care for the city hub portions though. Actually preffered the linear method of the previous games.
