Your ignorance is the Devil's bliss. Every time you scorn what confounds you, he smiles. Every time you sow the fear of him where there was none, he laughs. It's you he loves. It's you he thanks in his evening prayers. -Everville
Popular AMV site AnimeMusicVideos.org has been served with a cease & desist order by an unnamed record label in regards to AMVs using music from Evanescence, Creed, and Seether.
According to AnimeMusicVideos.org admin "Phade" the copyright holders for those three bands do not want the bands music distributed on the website. Their legal representation stated that it would be acceptable if AnmeMusciVideo.org removed their links to all the AMV featuring those bands.
In total close to 2000 AMVs have been removed from the website.
According to Phade, the lawyer representing the record label/copyright holders stated that the AMVs and the website came to the copyright holders attention when a fan contacted them and asked if the AMVs hosted on AnimeMusicVideos.org were created by the band.
I wonder how long it will be before this record label gets the other record labels to contact AnimeMusicVideo.org ?

Reason: spelling is hard.

Ugh. Its people like this that really take the cake.
I was taking a Sci Fi class last semester and the Professor was a huge fan of Farscape. He talked about how he and his wife had started adopting the Farscape curse words at home because it was actually pretty satisfying to use them to curse, and company didn't get pissed when you said them aloud. Well, his wife and him got so blasee about using them that his 4-year-old son picked them up as well. So he's telling the class about his son knocking over a block tower and stating dutifully, "Fwewl." I piped up and said, "You realize you've just completely screwed that kid socially for the next 20 years of his life." The whole class got really quiet and all offended and soforth. The professor glared at me and said, "Well, he's autistic so that was a pretty safe bet anyway."
Apparently, I'd missed the class where he mentioned that.
Cool guy, though - I mentioned it to him later when I saw him in his office hours, and we had a chuckle over the situation.
...my ignorance... not his kid's autism... I think it's too early for the autism jokes.
...okay, maybe just one...
Man: Are you autistic?
Woman: No, why?
Man: Because you sure look special to me.
