Don't even bother reading this if you haven't pursued seru bane on some level.
I spent 2 weeks rounding up Fungoid Saps (i farmed the deep and the bazaar) and then I have a friend who is a GM Smith with a 5% mod so do combine for my a Yttrium sheet. He Failed.
I finally get an old friend who is a GM Smith with at 15% mod to do the combines for the sheet. He failed once and then succeeded on the next try.
So at this point I have one through 3 Saps and also have 1 invested in the Quicksilver Temper to use in the final combine.
Show time!
I equip my GM Tailor needle, my GM Potter thingy and my GM Flethor knife and proceed to combine in the forge in PoK...
And at 170 Smithing I fail on the final combine no this no drop weapon.
Four fungoid saps, flushed down the toilet.
EQ Rocks!
Please share similar stories so I can bask in your pain along with mine
Sorry, the only trouble I had was getting the saps. None of the combines failed for me. My smithing was the minimum required (can't remember what is was...like 162 or something?) And I have YET to use that weapon. =/
188 smithing can be aquired for 4k and 3 hours of work. Seru bane is not needed anyway. Just stand there SoS like most rogues, and let caster's have thier fun. Ryndar Locke

My guild wants us to get Seru Bane weapons on our own time - I can't be bothered. I hate that @#%$. (Back In Black)

Not to mention your healers are going to be very non-plussed at having to cure the DoT and heal the damage from you. Seriously, a rogue's job at a Seru kill is to stay SoS in case of a wipe or semi wipe so you can recover your raid. -Sinc
Which is why I can't understand why my guild wants us all to have Seru bane weapons - that DoT is a killer.
But, the guy who's in charge of the Seru raids is still under the impression that the only reason we've lost 4 times thus far is because not enough of us have our Seru bane.
Be more productive to tell folks to level up a mage or wizard alt for Seru raids and log their melee main in the corner to log back in after Seru's down for loot.

its one cast of RGC. i was one of the two bane-equipped members at my guild's first seru kill, and it wasn't a problem getting a druid or paladin to keep me alive. even when our numbers swelled to an incredible 8 or so banes, we managed to keep everybody healed/cured.
besides, if you play around with positioning, you'll be able to duck behind a pillar when he starts casting the DoT, and avoid it entirely.
seru bane farming really wasn't that bad when ancient shriekers were indifferent and non-social casters. duoing with a bard friend of mine, i managed to get something like 51 saps for my guild, and a few AA points.
P.S. if you want an easy CR, have one cleric stay back instead of clicking up to the third level in the arx. the portal thingy is right under the corner where, at least in my guild, seru is pulled to. with a necrotic divining device your cleric can sense the nearest corpse, drag it down to second level, rez it, rinse and repeat. with a rogue up on third level for easier targeting, it makes CRs a breeze.

I remember on our last seru run we had 2 warriors and 1 monk with a seru bane oh and those rangers. Not one of us smart rogues has ever even bothered doing it. We just kill adds and watch.
Banes are so not needed for seru just need wizards really. Though I must admit having rangers with bane bows is useful.
Right, just do /target meathead's and you'll get the corpse. This was necessary back when multiple corpse macros actually worked, but is hardly worth it these days.
TO PJ skankypants yes cureing the Dot is easy when there are 2-3 melee.
It's pain in the ass when there are 10+, it take time to cast RGC so by the time you finish cureing the 2-3 melee that you are assigned some of them already need healing not to mantion that by the time your done healing them seru Dot them again.
