How much does someone need to play before they begin to notice small **** like this? I thought I played games a lot but I've never noticed things like these.
(I suggest using the torrent, it goes REALLY fast compared to the low quality download)
I have played that game more than any game I have ever owned, 210% so many times I've lost count. Yet I *NEVER* thought of doing some of the things he did to skip parts. In fact, the part where he skips getting the Spike Buster Armour and gets past the spikes that block the sealed door to get the Silver Ring seriously made my jaw drop.
Albeit, it's not the only thing I hadn't heard of in this game. Until the last time I replayed it (on my computer) I had no idea there was a bug with The Librarian that let you duplicate any type of gem you wanted up to 255. Needless to say, whenever I play it again, no more ****ign with the Jewel Swrod to get me a Duplicator.

I've seen the Half-Life video, it's incredibly fun to watch. Although they load/save many, many times for each section to get it perfect, it's still incredible that they can do it at all. One of my favorite videos of all time.
How the guy beat SotN w/o Shield Rod + Alucard Shield or a Crissaegram and Golden Rings of Varda w/ only being Level 25 at best and having skipped over ALL but like 2 HP ups is just plain ******* nuts. He used Jeweled Knuckles to beat him, JEWELED FREAKING KNUCKLES.
It has a lot more videos like that, although centered heavily on quake. It makes me yearn for the good old days, when I could waste my entire weekend on glquakeworld using my uber voodoo2 card on my awesome 56k modem.

Yeah snark and the trip mine jumping was like O_O
I don't think I could ever beat SotN like that guy did b/c I have conditioned myself to get EVERYTHING done. I really need to play the Japanese version I have on my HDD. I would sell my soul to find a freaking Japanese Saturn version of it to download. I really wish Konami would make an aniversery version of it when PS3 comes out with the Japanese Saturn version of it :O/
His trip mine jumping is A+, as is his Tau-cannoning.
The part in Xen (Right after Gonarch) pissed me off, it took me like an hour and a half to finally see where the **** I was supposed to go to get to the porter. I don't even understand how he beat The Nihilanth w/o porting to the three sub rooms during the fight, hell I only saw him destroy one of the crystals in the room.
You never have to port to those rooms--you're only ported to those rooms if you allow his Teleport Ball attack to hit you. As for the crystals, I don't remember the video precisely, I haven't seen it in a while--doesn't he use the Magnum or something?
Edit: Oooh, goodie, I already have it on this computer--I thought I had downloaded on my last computer and lost it when I switched to this system. Well that's delightful, saves me a long download time--will probably rewatch it tomorrow, though SotN is a higher priority!
Sweet merciful god in heaven, I found two torrents for Dracula X for the Saturn, if I can download them and get them to run I will seed them for the rest of my ******* life. One is an 8GB collection of Jap Saturn games, other one says Dracula X for Saturn and is just that. Im not connecting to anyone for the 8GB download, but I am connected to 1 seed and peer for JUST the Dracula X download. It's gonna take 2 days or so at the rate it's going, but of sweet god will it be worth it to finally play a better version of the best game ever ******* made. When I finish DLing I will link it and seed it, but it will be slow from me, but Im not gonna stop seeding it till Ive got it out there for some people.
See, the SNES version and the PC Engine/Turbografx 16 version, while having the same name, and telling the same story, are two completely different games, with completely different levels.
The PCE/TGX16 version (called Dracula X:Rondo of Blood in japan) is considered to be the absolute best non-sotn style Castlevania. While the SNES version(called Akumajo Dracula XX in japan) is merely "okay".
So what I'm asking is...is the Saturn version a port of the SNES version, or the PCE/TGX16 version.
EDIT: Actually, now that I looked it up, I think you're actually downloading the saturn version of Symphony of the Night, as the only CV game released on the Saturn is called Akumajou Dracula X:Gekka no Yasoukyoku(Nocturne in the Moonlight) which is the japanese name for SotN.

The only Castlevania game ever released on the Saturn was Nocturne in the Moonlight. Seems some other people connected to it and have slowed my DL rate of it to less than 1 kB/s and it's now gonna take me 4 days to finish ><.
And just so we're clear, I didn't sign no papers nor did I shake no hands, I still got my soul after this finishes *looks around*.
Edit: I prolly shoulda read the entire thing before posting. I wouldn't even consider the SNES version of Rondo in Blood to be "ok", more like "butchery." Im also downloading the PCE version since I never really got around to it. And yeah, it would be the Saturn version of SotN, with the two new areas of the castle, the ability to play as Richter, Alucard, or *Maria*, and some other stuff.
Hm--the way he skips the Clock Tower, freakin' jaw dropping.
Wow, holy ****--I'd tried to skip the spikes before, just like that, and it didn't work--but it worked for him because he hadn't used his Jewel of Open yet. Damn.
I'd love to see his map during this game, heh.
I counted 19 level-ups, making him level 20 against Dracula. Ridiculous!
Ha, best part is that the last 6 minutes are credits--he really beats the game in 45 minutes.

I need to load it up and try that trick with the Jewel of Open, he seriously saved like an hour of game play by not ever going to the Catacombs and Mines.
I need someone's help finding an easy to use Saturn emulator (so far none of the ones Ive seen/found are like anything Im used to (IE: What game do you wanna load, load game, **** works)) The game finished downloading but I know have to find something that can run the damn thing.
I seriously want to cry right now. I have the game. It is the Sega Saturn version (loaded it with Alcohol, opened it and there is an OMAKE folder there that is only on this version.). I found Saturn BIOSes. I can tell emulators to use those BIOSes. But for the love of all that is good, pure, right, and holy in this world I CANNOT get the ******* game to run.
http://tinyurl.com/8subu is the link to the torrent download, like I said I am gonna keep seeding this. It won't go fast, but if you wanna try and figure out how to get this to run, and if you CAN get it to run, I will be eternally greatful.
Sounds like the Saturn emulators are as much a pain in the ass as the Dreamcast one was for me to get running. Took like 4 different programs/downloads to get everything I needed. Especially the virtual cd drives.
I'll have to take a guess at the Clock Tower work involving some nifty wolf jumping, though I haven't seen the video yet.
Nope. On the regular castle, he does some ridiculous flying with the bat-charge (which I didn't even know existed until now) and then really deft dropping. On the inverted castle, he uses a Stopwatch and then the Gravity Boots. Gets through both times in about 7 seconds.

Yeah, even MAME emulators aren't this much of a pain, who the **** makes a goddamn emulator and DOESN'T include the BIOS because of "legal reasons." Cassini emulator ALMOST runs it for me, I can get it closer to running the game then anything else Ive seen, but it still crashes as it tries to load the game.

And you call yourself a fan of the game :OP Bat Charge is done by holding X and doing U, U+B, B, B+D, D, D+F, F release X.
That's all well and good the first time through, but after that, it's time to go to Gamefaqs and retard yourself with game information so nothing is left behind on the second play.
I was highly impressed with the SoTN video.. skipped some of the pieces of the game that utterly frustrated me, and it totally amazed me the lack of use of potions and such throughout. I have beaten the game myself in a few hours, but to get through this quick is pretty amazing. I actually pulled out the disk again and going to give some of these tricks a try this weekend. Don't know about doing all this killing at such a low level though.. that in itself is wild..
I guess practice, practice, practice is how you get that good.. but damn..
Just watched the Half-Life video again--he does kill all three crystals, by the way. He shoots the first two using the Tau Cannon, which also damages the Nihilanth--then he uses the shotgun and the Magnum to kill the third.
I absolutely love that video. Half-Life is one of my all-time favorite games, so that video just tickles my fancy every time.
Watched the SotN video... wow.
I usually skipped the cathedral by wolf jumping over the breakable bridges in the latter section of the clocktower immediately after getting the wolf soul, and continuing up and through... I didn't think it was possible to get into Olrox's Quarters quite so early though. And yeah, bypassing the spikes was just
Thanks for that link, In Goldeneye 64 the Facility was the only one I couldn't get the secret bonus for... like 1:15 time on 00 Agent. Got all the others, And beat every level in 00. One of the few games I went all out on.
Now watching that Video he made it look easy to beat at 57sec. Using ncps to open doors by shooting to alert them in the beginning and using mines to kill guys chasing him I never thought of. :(
Man, the time I beat the facility level in 1:03 with a need 1:05 was about as berserk as I ever went. Holy crap, I had been fighting with that thing for I don't know how long and had been coming in with consistant 1:07's and 1:10's. My friend at the time had been trading back and forth until he just couldn't take it anymore and I was a little better at it so I finally managed to get it.
In that beginning section I threw a remote mine at the wall at the bottom of the stairs to kill those guys and get into that room. It sucked when I missed and hit the console too heh.

No matter how many times I ever tried, I could NEVER ******* get the facility beat in time to unlock the cheat (Invincibility for that level, right? It's been a while~)
Jaw dropping. Some of the stuff he does, I'd never freakin' think of it--hook shotting off the floating platform in the first torch room of Turtle Rock. Using the hookshot to immune himself to the fire arms during another floatig platform room. Drool.

See what happens when ya rush :P...
Btw how and the _($_@#( did the guy in Mario64 back jump that fast??? Had to be a turbo controler or something.
