And the writer for the Castlevania animated movie is...

Warren Ellis

Apparently I can now tell people that I’m writing a CASTLEVANIA animated film for Project 51 Productions.

So, um. Yeah.

Project 51 will be setting up a production blog for CASTLEVANIA in the near future.

Ok... I can say it...

SERIUOSLY WHAT THE **** IS GOING ON?!?!

Not that I'm upset.... but damn that's not even from outta left field. That's like from out of the park and 5 blocks over.

This will be the best video game movie ever.

Or possibly the worst, if we get a Belmont who is a bald/shaved head chain smoking brit that hates the world. It could happen! :D

EDIT: Ok, apparently I've just not been paying attention. Apparently it's been long rumored and slightly confirmed thanks to artwork which accompanied suggestions, in multiple places. And somehow I missed them all. Apparently I'm very out of touch these days.

Ellis wrote the comic about the journalist(sounds like who was described above and the people that became half aliens? If so this movie is going to suck, a lot. You should expect whiny, self-important tripe.

My hopes for this are not very high, if the last series of Castlevania offerings are any indication of what kind the characters will be like.

He also wrote a comic about giant robots fighting giant monsters that had nothing to do with journalests or whiny, self-important tripe.

He's also currently writing a hilarious superhero comment that is the furthest thing possible from whiny, self-important tripe.

You should check out some of the million other things he's written

It's not like any of the Castelvanias have a real plot to them. Every CV game's plot falls into 1 of 2 catagories.

1. "Dracula is back! I, a Belmont, have gotta destroy him! Maybe I'll run into Alucard too."

2. "Wierd things going on in this castle, I, not a Belmont, am going to investigate!" "Bwahaha, I'm an evil cult guy trying to ressurect Dracula! Maybe Alucard will show up also!"

Except for Aria of Sorrow.

3. "I'm Dracula reincarnated and I don't know it! I think I'll explore this castle. Hey! It's Alucard!"

He's written a LOT of stuff... and every writer under the sun has put out lackluster work. Transmet and Planetary are enough to get me excited about him working on something.

And let's face it. With as much as most video game movies suck, it can ONLY be better. Even Ellis' lackluster, shines compared to the complete crap that is made on video game franchises earlier.

The last series of offerings? The last several games have been terrific and Ender's right, it's not like these are plot/story heavy games to begin with.

Yerp, Darth is essentially correct on the CV storylines--except Alucard appears nowhere in the PS2 games. He ain't Wolverine, bucko.

I'd have a more informed opinion if I knew how likely he was to mention that Dracula STEALS men's SOULS and makes them his SLAAAAVES.

If you're talking GBA or DS, then I might agree with you. But the last 2 castlevanias have been "eh" in my opinion. CoD was better than LoI, but it still left a lot to be desired IMO.

And yeah, there is no real plot to CS, but there is a lot of melodrama, and I'm not very enthralled about the idea of watching it in a movie instead of skipping past it in a game.

Oh, your talking about the PS2 ones. We're talking about the GBA/DS ones. Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow are like the best CVs ever. And Portrait of Ruin looks like it's gonna rock too.

Yeah, to be honest I barely even remember the PS2 games exist. When I think of recent Castlevania games, the GBA and DS games are what come to mind. Can't wait for Portrait of Ruin!

There have never been any Castlevania games in 3D.
There will never be any Castlevania games in 3D.
The last Castlevania game on a non-portable console was Symphony of the Night.
Anyone who says otherwise is suffering from an unfortunate delusion.
