AMV Adds
Reply With Quote   #1

We're having issues with AMV. The adds appear to spawn, get stuck in the OOM "room" and then warp to the raid. Obviously this causes a lot of problems. Have they always done this? How do you deal with it? Where do you tank AMV? We tank him in the corner right by the portal.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Upon entering the AMV room, turn around and you stare directly at where we tanked AMV ( I think this is where you meant). We never had any major trouble with the adds.

Over the course of the fight we would usually lose about 3 or 4 people to the adds, our rangers were very good about kiting them around. I never saw them run up to us though, so they may have been warping from OMM's room, but it still wasn't a huge issue.

(nothing like when OMM warped into us...)

We tank same spot (just inside door at corner), but I think unlike most guilds, we kill the adds as they spawn, we still do Anguish weekly for apps and bots mostly and havent seen any major warp problems but I dont really watch for those, I just assist when called for and the add is already there.

Same as with Warden Hanvar, Emperor Draygun, and similar encounters with adds, my guild kills the adds as they spawn. Offtanks grab the adds, and we designate one of the knights as our "Add Assist". At their call, all DPS switches to their target, and we kill all of the adds before switching back to the main target which our main tank has been keeping aggro on.

Biggest issue we've had is a bugged OMM script which very rarely allows us to move on to OMM after AMV.

How long do you have on the adds before they start hitting for insane damage?

AMV is scripted to be killed in OMM's room. If you are pulling him out of the room you will Lock OMM on his podium.

It has been a while since we done CoA, but we tank him at the spot mentioned by other people in earlier posts. Generally he is dead in 45 seconds or so, so we just off tank the adds till AMV is down and then kill those. But I guess this tactic is only doable if you can kill AMV very quick. In our early anguish days we dealt with adds when they popped.

An alternate solution is to leave 1-2 dps groups on AMV all the time, while the others switch target to adds. Faster AMV = less adds. With AMV dead in less than a minute, there is barely one AE DT and 1-2 adds.

We don't off-tank OR kite the adds. We just root them, and then kill them once AMV is dead. /shrug

(Normally I wouldn't share strats on most mobs, but this is so easy, I can't see anyone not figuring this out. Just found it interesting that there seem to be small variations on the theme.)

We leave the DPS on AMV and have offtanks pick up adds. He goes down fast.
