64 in a 55 (oops, a 45)
Reply With Quote   #1

I just got ticketed for doing 64 in a 45. I saw the officer pull behind me, so I watched carefully that I did 55 and not a bit higher. This would have worked if the limit was 55. But I found out 45 is the actual limit.

Funny thing about it is, there didn't seem to be any signs posting it as 45, and I distinctly remember it being 55 when I lived there years ago. Of course, time and the damage from Katrina can be attributed to why I was wrong. But if I had known it was only 45, I would have only done 45 in front of the officer.

I have not even been pulled over, much less ticketed, since 1994.

The sad part is that Lenilya gets to joke about my driving now, since it was right after dropping him off.

Wonder if driving school will save me an insurance hike.

Ow, that sucks i had a similar situation. I was doign 75 in a 55, The kicker was the speed limit changed from 65 to 55 and i was about to lift my foot when his cherries light up. I got off on a seat belt ticket amazingly though. Though it was bar closeing times and I think he was out for the drunks. Due to i had to do the field breathlizer and all. Wasted 30 mins on the side of the rode lol.

Got a ticket for 79 in a 70 on I-10, near Tallahassee, in Madison County.

Madison County state troopers (in FL) really have a stick up their ass. I'd venture to say a small evergreen.

NINE OVER on a major interstate highway and I got a ticket.

Last time I got busted, it was for doing 86 in a 65 on the Garden State Parkway. Finally got to pass this van that was doing like 55 in the left lane when he heeded my flashing headlights and moved over, accellerated to pass, and saw the cherries light up behind me. Didn't even realize the trooper was behind me until then. Sneaky bastards. Granted, I never got busted all the times I was doing 95+ when making for exit 80 in a scant 1 hour (usually takes 1.5 to 2).

I have noticed a trend - I only get caught once every 5 years. Just as the points from my last speeding violation drop off, I get a brand new violation and points on my license. The funny thing is that I almost never drive less than 10 miles over the speed limit. Guess it's because I know where most of the Staties' trap spots are on the routes I travel most often.

When I was driving down to my aunt's in texas I got pulled over for doing 85 in a 55. Though I was just following traffic basically, most of the people around me were going the same speed.
The officer pulled me over and checked my license asked where I was going. "Just head to texas to stay with my aunt for christmas." (Had my dad and grandma in the car as well)
He let me off with a warning and a Merry Christmas. :D
I realized after we were pulling away that I said "Heading to Texas" and we were just north of Huston. LOL

Kinda figured he may have thought we were drug trafficers or something with out of state plates.

Last time I got pulled over was prolly over 10 years ago.

I was going 70 in a 55 carpool lane, zooming past traffic with only me in the car.

Got pulled over, and after going through everything, the officer handed me my stuff and said "Thank you very much Mr. Caowyth, have a nice day."

I have good cop karma.

GA police are nice =) they bump tickets down if you are going 25+ mph over the speed limit, so they don't have to arrest you. Been there, done that. Years ago, I had 19 out of 21 point to loose my license. Funny thing is that I just got rid of my black hyundia with red racing stripe and stopped getting pulled over. I swear it was that car! And who bought it? An Atlanta Police officer, lmao. That car was a police officer magnet. It must have had a homing beacon in it or something. Police always pulled me over even if I was with traffic.

*knock on wood, no tickets in 3+ years. Last one was a trap, I know it! Alpharetta is/was the worst! Now that we have red light cameras, I rarely see them out giving tickets though.

A montana political dude made it law here that if you are doing 14mph over the speedlimit or under on an interstate, when the cop pulls you over, if you give them 20$ you get off with no ticket.

This came about because he got pulled over(multiple times) getting from one town to another for some meetings.

I would find it more interesting if he got pulled over by a firetruck, ambulance or pedestrian cop. There is a chase for you.

I did that this last Christmas, on I-80. Personally I've always felt the interstates were safe havens for setting the cruise at 80mph, not no mo'.

9 over, at least in North Carolina and you won't get pulled 99.9% of the time.

Yeah, but the speeding cameras still get ya. (Charlotte has em, not sure where else does.)

I thought this was a "level your rogue" thing. I was going to say that's not even close to the record.

Dunno about the speed cameras, we don't have em up here, but I drive past cops doing 9 over and never worry about it. It's 10+ when they start putting points on your license and start caring. Until then they just don't seem to give a damn.

The best part about this whole fiasco is that, prior to Daton getting the ticket, I started making fun of his aggressive driving.

Then I get a call sayin he got pulled over.

Told ya

No on driving school. $165 fine.

Now I not only have the Tony Stewart license plate, but also the same driving habits :P

And before the storm, it was 55 on that road. (But found out it's always been 45 on that stretch)

I knew you wouldn't be able to resist the poke at me Lenilya! Ah well, next time you are down, I'll drive like a grandma.
