Aug 27th, Mars fly by

On Aug. 27TH Mars comes within 34.65 million miles of Earth. Mars will look almost as large as the full moon to the naked eye (so im told). Watch the sky AT 12:30 am (MIDNIGHT) eastern. People on the west coast may have to check for it around 9:30 pm. The next time Mars will come this close is in 2287 so take pictures!!! Oh, and it will be RED so you can't miss it. Pray it's not cloudy...

yeah, the real tip-off is the "almost as large as the moon" thing... that would mean being what, like 10000% the size it is in the sky right now?

That is from a bad bit of editting from the 2003 approach. It was supposed to say that mars with even a relatively low powered satelite could be seen as clearly as the moon is with the naked eye.
