Books about Death/Rats/Plague
Reply With Quote   #1

Looking for a book recommendation. Friend's birthday quickly approaching, and not sure what to get.

Said friend has interest in Death, Rats, and the Plague. So - Anyone out there know of a book/graphic novel that they liked alot that deals with some of the above topics?

Unfortunately, this friend is not so into zombies. I think something in a more factual/scientific direction would be great. Anything in the same vein as Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach would be excellent.

I haven't read it personally, but I've heard John Kelly's "The Great Mortality" is a good read.

I read In The Wake Of The Plague this summer, researching for a play this semester. It was good--quick, easy, informative. And strongly pushes the theory that the Black Plague wasn't just bubonic plague but also included cattle murrain (= anthrax), which I thought was morbidly ironic in light of post-9/11 events.
