One harmless change that would help many players out
Reply With Quote   #1

It has always bothered me that when making a macro I cant see the refresh timer of any of the skills in it. I understand that automatically figuring out a refresh timer and putting it on appropriate macros would cause to much work for the developers that could be doing other things. There is a simple fix though.

Why not just give players the option of having a timer display on a macro similar to the gray-out effect on normal abilities. It would do and mean nothing that effects anything in game. Just a simple UI change that makes a macro gray for a certain amount of time that can be entered by the player.

This change would make me feel a whole lot better about macroing skills. I would macro them all to start with drub and many other changes I have been avoiding all because I like the visual knowledge of when a skill is available.

Agreed, this deserves its own thread in the official forums imo. Or at least it deserves being brought to the attention of the devs in some other way. Although it might not be prioritized in the immediate future, it is an issue that should be relatively easy to fix... This, however, goes with many other UI tweaks that could be made, which are virtually impossible to do using custom UIs (I think, I haven't dabbled much in it myself).

Yep. As it stands I have to keep buttons for the abilities I have in my macros up on my hotbar just to see refreshes. It's been suggested plenty, but I don't think it has ever gotten an official response.

Dik, this is the sort of thing you should be harassing Talisker about daily

You'd need to define what you're asking for.

Are you asking whether the top ability in the macro is ready to go?

Or any ability in the macro?

Or all of the abilities?

What I'd personally love, is to have a set of colored dots appear in a horizontal line along the bottom of any macro button, indicating the status, in order, of all the commands in the button. Red dot = not applicable or out of mojo to do it. Yellow dot = recharging. Green dot = ready, charged, and applicable. Of course, that's a ton of extra UI programming and probably beyond scope.

What the poster here was asking for is the ability to set a timer on a macro.

As in: /settimer 5:00 minutes and have it recharge like escape normally would.

I like your idea, tho. It's something the devs know we want, and they will eventually implement it. It just is lower on the priority list than bug fixes, raid content, and various other things.

APW is damn near complete, they've been working 60+ hours a week, hell, they were on Saturday testing crap, sleeping in the office to get the patch pushed out to Test. Seriously, these guys are busting their asses for us.
