Rogue Macros for the computer illiterate (Question)
Reply With Quote   #1

So I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to Macros. I've respecced to a Combat Sword build and I've been doing well. I'm a lvl 39 BE and I think the next step in me figuring out how to become a better rogue is Macros.

I've searched Wiki and Osiris and thought I knew what I was doing but the majority of my macros don't work. I use the Sap+Pickpocket, that works, but what I'm looking for is a good opener.

I was thinking something along the lines of a

Cheap Shot, Slice N Dice, Sinister Strike Thistle Tea.

Which I would follow up with more Sinisters and then an Eviscerate... Using a Gouge, Kick, or Blind when necessary

Anyways the help I need is with the first part... I tried to make a macro, but the only thing mine does is drink the thistle tea and that's it. Ofcourse I don't profess to be that experienced so if you know of a better opener feel free to throw that down.

I don't think you can do combat skills in one macro like that because of the global cool down, which is probably why you're just getting the Thistle Tea. Then again, I don't really know macros too well, either; I'm still trying to get an automatic pickpocket macro to work upon my opening stealth attack.

One press of one macro can only execute one action on the global cooldown. The closest you could do is jam everything on to one key and then spam it. Something like:

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=combat/target Cheap Shot, Slice & Dice, Sinister Strike, Sinister Strike, Sinister Strike, Sinister Strike, Sinister Strike, Eviscerate

...then just hit it over and over and over...but really, isn't that boring?

Pickpocket isn't on the global cooldown, is it? Which means that this should work:

#showtooltip Cheap Shot
/cast Pick Pocket
/stopcasting
/cast Cheap Shot

...or whatever opener you want.

Yea, but that closes the pickpocket window before you can loot it. The last macro I tried was:
/cast Pick Pocket
/lootall
/stopcasting
/cast Cheap Shot

This also did not work. I'm trying to find something that does the pickpocket, nabs everything from the window, and continues to cast my opener. Or, if that isn't possible, at least leave the pickpocket window open while combat ensues so I can nab the stuff at my leisure.

Ah, make sure you have Auto Loot turned on in your game options and it should work then, I think?

it does, or if you prefer it off, there is an add on that is called Rogue loot, that allows you to leave auto loot off and auto loot while pickpocketing.

The only thing that bugs me about the PP macro is sometimes it will complete looting before the CS, and sometimes it will just grab the money then execute CS. Silly latency.
