Vista has recently acquired a problem where it stops opening internet browsers far to early for the amount of resources I have.
I dont think I can get the leaked nvidia drivers that I installed, uninstalled properly. (My bad. Now some one un**** it.)
Panda security recommends a tcp/ip vulnerability patch. Windows update disagrees says I am fully patched. Probably one of those patches Microsoft either doesn't think is important or bundled or something. Who ****ing knows.
I can't find the "restore defaults" for graphical settings in the nvidia applet even though I swear I know right where the button should be...
Tinn-R wont save my R installation in its options. I change the directory. I start up an R instance to make sure everything is right. I deliberately immediately tinn-r to get it to save settings because its been doing this for a week and I have finally had it. And then I start tinn-r again and the setting has reverted to the old ****ing R directory. F' you.
I had to change the directory because maktex doesn't understand the C:\program files\R 2.7.1 directory of the sweave style file that sweave puts into the tex document. Naturally.
Theres been one lingering truth in my soul. While I am attracted to technology for the power; I am horrorfied by what a cluster **** these complex systems can be sometimes.

Maple 11 (a product that can cost a thousand dollars) wouldn't save! Turns out you have to run it in "Compatiability Mode Windows 2000". Good 20 minutes blown figuring that out. I want money.
How about compatiablity mode: Don't Suck!
edit: Oh it turns out its a Java compatiability problem.
It's Java's compatibility problem. Please check compatibility list and you will find ver 1.5 is not compatible with Vista. The solution is go to download Java v1.6 or newer (v1.6.1 currently), and after installation, go to your drive which has folder "Windows" in it (for example, if your windows is installed in C:\Windows, go to C, then go to "Program Files" then go to "Java" there's a folder called "bin" and another called "lib", copy both folders to override contents in Maplesoft_folder\jre.
If you're going to bitch about technology at least bitch about technology that really deserves it.
Like printers.
All printers suck.
In my opinion printers suck so much that the guy who invented them should suffer in the firey pits of hell.
The printer queue sucks too. Why does it take ten minutes to delete a task from the printer queue? We can invent a computer that will do one quadrillion computations in a second but I bet if the paper jams on its printer or the cartridge or toner ****s up it still takes at least five minutes to clear the queue.
The planned obselescence of printers pisses me off too. I'm not the most environmentally aware guy there is but it pisses me off that printers cost less than the ink that goes in them. Half the time it's chearper to throw away two pounds of plastic, and electrodes, than it is to put in a new two ounce ink cartridge. This strikes me as just a little bit wasteful.
Also why are there approximately 1000 different types of printer cartridges? Didn't someone a few hundred years ago invent interchangable parts for machinary so that one part would fit into multiple machines? It would seem to me that it would be much more cost affective to have about half as many types of printer cartridges.
Hell you don't even get all the ink you paid for out of the damned thing half the time anyway. I just had to replace a cartridge that according to the preprint routine still was half full.
Printers suck, and I will take great pleasure taking either an aluminum baseball bat or a nine iron to the next printer that dies in my possession.
The above printer rant must be read while while "Damn it feels good to be a Gansta" plays in the background
