The college idealists who fill the ranks of the environmental movement seem willing to do absolutely anything to save the biosphere, except take science courses and learn something about it. -- P.J. O'Rourke
Democracy is a form of religion. It is the worship of jackals by jackasses. -- H.L. Mencken
Stay safe there, ragweed. A friend of mine was in Jamaica with her 2 young kiddos when Gustav hit. It was pretty worrysome to me. When I called her she was all, "bah! I survived Ivan!" I'm thinkin' you peeps in the Caribbean have hurricane proof cajones by now.
Looks like Ike will be going far enough south of my island so I might not even get any wind to speak of. Some islands will get hit hard. Haiti will get a fair bit of wind and rain it seems, and Cuba...well Cuba is just plain ****ed.
Haiti must have really pissed of the which ever deity is in charge of hurricanes a long time ago. They need to start making amends. Every other storm seems to slam in to them.
The remnants of Hanna past over my head last night. 8 inches of rain in the big mecca of Manchvegas, NH. :p
While the rain sucked, the day of tropical weather before hand was beautiful. It also helped ne discover a blown seal in a skylight which is usefule with winter approaching. Basement was a little damp, but nothing more than a soggy carpet.

That reminds me of a joke with a penguin and the punch line was something about ice cream
The skies are still clear, but the wind has picked up considerably. You can definitely tell Ike is in the area. Doesn't look like I'm going to get more than the very outer edges of the storm though, same as with Gustav and Hanna. Fay came the closest, it's been an interesting few weeks...
