James Cameron felt he had to wait 14 years to have the technology to be able to tell the story of a soldier who gets transformed into the enemy to take them down from inside and then falls in love with an enemy girl and decides to fight with his new people to save their world? I hope the plot is better than that.
From what I understand the new technology is pretty ground breaking in that he can film his actors and see them immediately with the CG elements made for the film. He can adjust camera angles, etc to get better shots with the CG.
Now, I don't know if that is the only difference in technology with the film but if it is then I have to agree. It better be one bitching movie because waiting 14 years just for that seems a large waste of time.
Was not impressed with the Avatar trailer. With all the hype (most of it coming from the director himself), it should be something more than a video game cutscene.
The other trailer released on the same day, which I was very impressed with, was The Wolfman. And that's a shock, as I hate every single thing Joe Johnston has ever directed (except The Rocketeer, which was awesome).
So basically CGI FernGully with space marines instead of loggers...
Human logger destroys natural habitat, meets fairy person, becomes a fairy person, falls in love with fairy girl, fights against human loggers in a battle of nature vs. machine.
Yeah I won't be going to see this. With all the hype about long years of development and technology finally being able to create his vision, you'd think the CGI wouldn't look like ****.
I thought the movie looked pretty awesome, but I do recognize that I hadn't heard of it until I saw the trailer. If it's been hyped that long and I was aware of it, I'd be seeing it through different eyes.
