Life...is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that no one ever asks for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So, you're stuck with mostly undefinable whipped mint crap, mindlessly wolfed down when there's nothing else to eat while you're watching the game. Sure, once in a while you get a peanut butter cup or an English toffee but it's gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. In the end, you're left with nothing but broken bits filled with hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts, which if you are desperate enough to eat leaves nothing but an empty box of useless brown paper wrappers.-- Cancer Man.
Until Joe American appreciates the fact that healthcare is as important as rent or food, the healthcare situation will not change. Those who have paid and continue to pay are still going to pickup the tab for the deadbeats.
What really sucks, is those of us who have paid a premium for good healthcare over the years are going to lose in this UHC placebo their concocting. The market will respond to lower cost by reducing coverage. So everything is going to be a steaming pile of "a la cart" which will essentially cost more.
Having been in america, working, without healthcare and being in europe, working, with healthcare (that I pay for), I can tell you, I much rather this system.
We all pay for healthcare here, but there's a basic level of humanity that means you don't have to corrupt your brain about thoughts of how to financially deal with an illness when you're actually still trying to get over the hump of recovery, no matter where you are.
Driving and talking on a phone is dangerous. Worrying about how you're going to pay for the heartattack when you're having it is dangerous too.
