Can someone please explain to me why, with all the properties DC has, they chose to make a movie out of a character that no one outside of comic book geeks even knows?

PS: Megan Fox should not be in movies.

Worked out pretty well for Blade.

Plus every year there are dozens of movies made from novels that I know I've never heard of. The ideas gotta come from somewhere.
