Assassins Creed Brotherhood

So some know I am a pretty big fan of Assassins Creed. This has been one of the most enjoyable series of console games for me in a long time. As much as I love it, oddly I have never been much into the "sub-releases" or whatever you call the non main storyline releases. However this one looks to be pretty significantly different. Everything I have read seems to imply this one is more of an expansion of the 2nd main release if you will and that has my interest pretty high.

The only thing I can't get excited about is the CE box set. It did not appeal to me in the store and after watching that video it actually appeals even less. Can't say a $5 childs toy makes me want to spend another $40 on it, so looks like I will stick to the standard this go.

Anyone else looking forward to this?

Going to wait for the initial release/DRM insanity to wear off, but yeah I'm interested. The MP...I dunno. If it's just an assassination kill fest, and there's no other combat, just who manages to click the button the fastest from the right position......bleh. The videos already basically make it look as though you're either running from people, or getting snuck up on. I can't see that being fun for very long, despite all the unlockable yadda yadda stuff.

Enjoyed the hell out of the SP though, and the story by and large. So I'm planning on getting it eventually.

No DRM bs on the console version, they reserved that screwing for PC gamers.

That said the MP is significantly more then just an assassination kill fest. Go check out some of the previews, there looks to be some really interesting game modes coming.

So now that it is out..

I must admit I am overall impressed. While they said it was not a main line title as such it isn't AC3, it is really quite good. That said they actually went indepth enough with the storyline that I can honestly say you are going to be missing quite a bit if you skip it until AC3.

The Good:
  • Storyline is still very well done, does not feel like a non main title in the least.
  • Building your assassins brotherhood is hugely addictive.
  • If you enjoyed building your Villa in AC2, building rome will be huge.
  • Money is not quite as easy in this one, quite a bit more balanced.
  • Slightly adjusted combat system that helps eliminate some of the issues previously experienced.
  • Horse travel in the city and you can call your horse.
  • Escaping a bad situation is now more difficult due to a slightly improved AI as well as horse mounted guards that require a bit more finesse to elude/kill.

The bad:
  • Graphics feel a little off in a few places, or not quite as good as the previous. I am a little surprised by this.
  • While overall better, enemies still do quite a bit of standing around.
  • Multiplayer can be a bit too random, hopefully this gets improved with some patches.

100% Worth buying and playing.

PS3 and 360, and I believe PC at a slightly later date.

Its currently part of the buy one get one 40% off promotion at amazon, whether you want to wait for a better deal or not is up to you. Its about 36 bucks if you buy another game of equal value.

they do have fable 3, fallout NV and a few other titles as part of the promotion too so some definite must haves in there and no need for filler.
