Critblade Template
Reply With Quote   #1

I recently restarted a 37 SB after having raised my base stealth just a bit too high for what I desired.
I just used a spreadsheet to calculate the limits of my specing.
My desire has been to make a critblade that could use lifebane, have:
35 stealth (+11items +4realm rank=50)
39 Sword
39 CS
and Envenom somewhere in the mid 40s

After working out my spreadsheet and calculating the specs, it seems the best ill be able to do, even after autoraising stealth to 10 at lvl40 would be the following:
35 stealth (+11items +4realm rank=50)
35 Sword
39 CS
39 envenom
and 26 specs left over.

DOES THIS SOUND RIGHT??? I thought I'd be able to get a bit higher on final specs :( Seriously, am I asking for too much?

I would be happy if I could just get that base envenom to 43 or 44. That way I could get the +3 in items and the eventually the last +3 or +4 in realm rank. Is there anyone out there who might see a flaw in my calculations or point to what I could do to get closer to my goal?

I think you need to look at your spreadsheet, or perhaps visit the ever popular catacombs Character builder. You can find it at daoc.catacombs.com/cbuilder.cfm

As far as your critblade lifebane user.. well imagine that I am building the same char.. Heres what I get from the character builder which doesnt take into consideration any autotrain for stealth.

Stealth 40
Swords 34
Envenom 44
Critical Strike 40

This leaves you with 32 points left over unspec'd, but with autotrain you can probably make swords 35. This gets envenom up so your less reliant upon the number of envenom items you'd need to get lifebane. You can probably go 45 envenom and leave swords at 34 if you like the fewer item approach.

Either way go check out the character builder you can play with spec, by cranking the character up to lvl 50 then spec'in and respecin points.. I think the most difficult part of building a template tho is getting the points right at lower levels. Either way the plan with this spec is to have a lvl 50 SB with Max Stealth (with very little realm rank/itmes required to get it there) Max Envenom (with rank and items), and hopefully max CS with a few CS spec items.

It should be the bane of any caster, scout, hunter, and probably even tanks. A real good idea would be to try to get some nice +sword items to round out your guy allowing you to deal that little bit extra damage on the backstab so that your envenom can do its job.

Happy hunting, if your on Iseult drop me a line.

WOAH ok now. I found what the discrepancy is in my spreadsheet when compared to the character builder.

I noticed that up to level 40, I get 2.2 specs per level, and the numbers concur with my spreadsheet.
But then, the character builder goes up to level 40.5 instead of 41 and awards me specs at level 40.5! This is where the character builder allots extra spec pts that I didn't account for on my spreadsheet
(I had calculated 2.2 specs for every level from 1-50.)

Is this just something I didn't know? You get bonus specs post level 40?

Oh ya.. You get what everyone refers to as a "Mini" ding. Every half lvl after 40 you get more spec points allowing you to further enhance your char.

BTW It's rumored that youll be able to spend Bounty Points to get spec too... Cant wait to find out how this works out.

It's not viable to autotrain stealth on a crit blade, at least past 20-24. The reason is you just rely too much on your critical strikes and will be missing too much damage, and leveling a lot slower as a result. I also think it's pushing the envelope to go for 35 stealth.

It is viable to autotrain stealth on a crit blade, if you are grouping. Solo, I'd say it would be rough. I autoed up to 24 and then I couldn't resist the battle ground call. I could still stealth around Purps, but they did uncover me pretty easy. I had a lot better chance of getting my BS II off then PA.

I agree that it's not feasible to autotrain high on a critblade unless you dont' care much for BG's. As far as stealth 35, I have the +9 out of possible +11 in items already, with just another +2 from realm rank, i'll have 48 stealth. Wont be a great difference from 48 to 50, far as being uncovered and such.
Anyway, in the long long run, ill have +4 realm rank so its all good if I can just get that CS or envenom 1 skill higher

My template as a level 50 Critblade, with items and RP bonuses as of today

45 Sword
52 Stealth
9 LA
6 Axe
64 CS
45 Envenom

This is with rank 4, and tons of +items.

Basespecs are:

34 sword
41 Stealth
6 LA
1 Axe
50 CS
32 Envenom

See folks, it's possible to do everything you dreamed of even with speccing full 50 CS.

Phear 1043 perf + 75 poison dot.
