"Just remember what ol' Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big old storm right in the eye and says, 'Give me your best shot. I can take it.'" -- Big Trouble in Little China
I'm experiencing a 40 percent failure rate tinkering advanced poison vials at skill level 70 with my gnome tinker. Is this typical or did I create an especially clumsy gnome?
Well, seeing as the vial is just trivial at that skill level, it doesn't sound too unlikely.
With a newly created gnome at skill 50 (?) I had about 45-55% failures. Veteran ShadowCross Bladesong

expected succes rate = Skill - 0.75 * trivial + 51.5 (for trivial over 68)
In this case you get 68% expected succes rate. 40% fails i a bit high, but unless you made several hundrede, so variance is expected. Ishwar - level 57 Barbarian Rogue - Emisaries of Dread - AB serverEdited by: Ishwar2 at: 1/23/03 7:09:12 am
It usually takes a good 10-20 points over the trivial level to reliably make anything (i.e. 5% failure rate)
Given that you get vials back on multi-charge combines, it's just as easy to brute-force your way through it. You could always raise your tinkering a little but that'll cost too.
