The Safehouse got a special invite to attend the Tomy Comic-Con party at the Rock Bottom Brewery to party and  see a preview of their Wii game Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire. I accepted (really the free food and drink after a hard day at the Convention Center had nothing to do with it!).

Comic-Con International 2007
SAN DIEGO, CA –

Comic-Con Is Big. How big? Really big. For the first time in its existence, Comic-Con was completely sold out. Not just the 4 Day Passes, but the individual day passes as well. Considering that the main exhibit hall of the San Diego Convention center is 1,500,000 square feet this is no small accomplishment.

Each year Comic-Con has been growing in attendance. Freaks and Geeks just keep coming in droves. This geek went of course. I also enlisted the help of fellow Safehousers, Nymm and More to help with Comic-Con coverage.

LoTRO Launch Day
I beta tested Lord of the Rings Online and, well, let's just say, "They got me". At this point in my MMO/MMORPG gaming life, I have gotten used to being somewhat of a Professional Beta Tester. I am used to being in Betas, testing, evaluating and then reporting on the games and then rarely going that extra step and buying an account once it goes live.

It slipped past my radar unnoticed until now, but last week NCSoft and Destination Games announced that they're accepting applications for closed beta testing of Tabula Rasa.

The beta signup page can be found here.  Minimum specs are as follows:

  • Windows® 2000/XP/Vista
  • 512 MB System RAM
  • 2.5 GHz Intel® Pentium® 4 or equivalent AMD™ processor
  • 128 MB Direct3D and Shader 2.0 compatible video card and DirectX 9.0 compatible driver
  • 8x DVD-ROM drive
  • 4.6 GB free hard disk space
  • DirectX 9.0c
  • DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card
  • Keyboard, Mouse
  • Broadband Internet connection

Those with Core 2 Duo processors should probably list their processor as "Pentium Dual Core", as since Pentium D has its own spot in the list I think that's the listing they meant for the Core 2 Duo.

It's a bit late, but Winter Anime 2007 season is here! As usual, I've prepared a handy guide with summaries and airing dates. This season seems to lean more on the comedy and romance side of things, but there's a good amount of mecha thrown into the mix as well. With 37 new anime this winter, there's a good selection to choose from.
